A question...

I'm out and about, and ready to return to base with a hold full of odds and ends I've cleaned up from the many Thargoid signals I've investigated (escape pods, scientific data, etc.). However, when I go to warp back to a system with a base, I get the warning "Illicit Cargo."

Is there a way to know WHAT cargo is illicit? I have about 40 different kinds of cargo aboard, and none of them appear in the "Stolen" or "Illegal" filters.

Some of the stuff you have collected will likely have to go through a black market, so is illegal in some stations, depending on where you are heading.

If you have nothing showing in your right hand panel, there's no other way to tell, but Thargoid stuff is the most likely culprit.

There's two ways to know if your items are illegal. 1: Check your cargo, it will say if it's illegal where you are, that's plain enough. 2: Check the system you are going to be carrying them to, if you look at the information tab for stations in the System Map you can check what items are legal and illegal at those stations, ie. in that sytem. Also, most thargoid items are considered illegal due to the fact that some of them can disrupt equipment at stations, such as Thargoid Sensors (UA's/ Unknown Artefacts).

Sooo...

I changed my cargo filters to show only illegal cargo. Nothing was illegal.
I checked the system itself and the base (Hudson Observatory), and saw nothing listed that I had on my ship.
I therefore concluded it was a glitch and warped to the system.

Once THERE, the Military Intelligence I was carrying became labelled as illegal. It wasn't listed in the illegal goods for the station, but whatever. Strange though, that military intelligence would be considered illegal.

Anyhow, I dumped it and carried on. No harm done.

Military intelligence is illegal, as you are not supposed to have military secrets.

It could be done better though, like, it could be illegal, but, you could offer it over to the cops/military if they scan you with it, and be rewarded. It would make things feel a little more alive.
