Just had a PM from someone who I had repped for a comment a while back. He queried why I had done so when it was obvious we had (and still do have) diametrically opposed opinions on the subject.
When I rep someone, I don't necessarily agree with their statement, but I respect it. Usually, if someone makes a well thought out counter-argument, I'll rep it even if I disagree. Debate shapes all sorts of things in this world and having someone who questions your assumptions is a hammer and anvil approach to making that idea stronger. No one person knows everything and many people can improve an idea as has been proven many times over.
If you give a snide, derogatory or dismissive response I'll skip over it. Funny remarks get rep, however. Yes, there are issues. Lets' work together on making this a better experience for all through positive feedback. There's always middle ground between any two points. We're a community of many different people, nationalities and cultures. Between, us we can sort out anything.
