A Quick Question About The Next Community Challenge

So the next community challenge (starts on Tuesday) is called "Eat Your Veggies" and the goal is to breed 250,000 Bronze Rated Herbivores.

Obviously, I know what a herbivore is, but I'm trying to get a little more clarification on it. Does this mean animals like Rhinos, Tapirs, Anteaters, Pangolins? I was wondering because the picture is of a Pronghorn, which is an antelope, so does that mean ungulates only? An explanation would be much appreciated.

The reason I'm wondering this is because I want to participate in this upcoming community challenge and I want to prepare for it, days in advance. If you didnt know, you can go to the Planet Zoo Website; Community tab and scroll down to see the progress of the current community challenge and the upcoming one. This is a really nice "feature" (I guess) that allows you to prepare.

Hopefully someone understands what I'm talking about!

I'm assuming it means any of the animals who are strictly herbivores (not carnivores or omnivores). Anteaters and Pangolins I guess not because they eat insects not plants. Tapirs and rhinos yes. Most of the primates are omnivores so I don't know if they would count.

I would say your safest bets are all the ungulates, buffalo, elephant, rhino, hippo, tapirs, tortoises, camel, warthog, pandas, llama, kangeroos, koala, reindeer, giraffe.

For the primates I'm not sure how strict they'll be. Gorillas definitely ought to be ok, so should orangs. The larger lemurs in real life are almost exclusively herbiverous but some insects in the diet is not-uncommon so it might depend how strict they are being. Chimpanzees and bonobos are definitely omnivores. Technically cassowaries eat insects and flamingoes eat shrimp so they shouldn't count either.

My advice would be to check what the in game zoopedia says and assume they will go by that.

Really wish the challenge was Bronze or better, I'm not getting any bronze, with everything going silver or gold

Yepp, as stated above, it's bronse or better :) I've bred over 700 animals so far and most of them have been gold. And they all counted :)

Mine hasn't been counting them, which is odd...

Hmm, what species are you breeding? Gold and Silver animals should count. Maybe it's the species that is the problem, that it doesn't count as a herbivore? I've only been breeding American Bison and they all counted

Most of the animals in a larger african one with all 8 of the ones that can be housed together.

You weren't in franchise mode is the only explanation.
I was in franchise mode...

Some of them did record, because I got a pile of rewards at the end, but far fewer than I know I was dealing with. Chucking a lot of Zebras into the wild along with the others in that habitat and in the newer pronghorn/bison one...along with a few other species. Only counted 15 as having been bred.

I'd gotten the african mix, from the start, to be entirely gold to start with and was dealing with preventing inbreeding...was setting up the other one for a few days to get enough credits to start them out well enough.
