Parks A real park this time.

Now that I have fixed my computer and everything is running smoothly. I decided to mess around with some of the new beta features. I know Spridley and I were waiting on the addition of more primitive items. We got quite a few. During my goofing with the new stuff, I threw out the train and was experimenting with the new path tools and options. Before I knew it I started an honest to goodness park with an entrance. So, I suppose I will finish this out as a park and not as a test of my system. Here are my humble beginnings. I will think of a name soon. This entrance was inspired by the Magic Kingdom entrance. Many of you know I tend to detail the crap out of my buildings, so, progress has been a little slow. The trains station went through 3 roofs already before I was happy with they way this one looked and lined up. I put some of my old buildings on the main drag as place holders, but I will likely design something in the american traditional look to run the main street. Thanks for looking.

WOW!

Great job, I really like the overall sence of togetherness you have brought, the way the patsh and planetrs interact, the buildings compliment each other, great job!

Rather than post a dozen pics, I figured a video would work easier. Now that Thanksgiving is over and I am done traveling for a few weeks I decided to finish up my entrance. You will notice that I removed the place holder buildings. That's because I have built all the replacements and will insert them within a day or so. Stay tuned. I think they turned out great and really fit the feel of the entrance. You will also note that there are some open areas around the entrance. Those will be worked on shortly also. My apologies for the update delay, it's hunting season here and my freezer was empty. I did keep up with many of your posts and there were some awesome ones, but the woods being what they are, service was spotty and I only commented on a few. Keep em coming though.

Ok, so i forgot how long it takes to finish out a building after I create the foot print. I have 8 more buildings to slide in and finish out, but you can see what I am aiming for now that the "city hall" chief beef and gulp stand are in. The new path system makes it very easy to integrate pathing and buildings together with little effort. The path going through the building will lead to the jungle area and witch mountain, which you see on the right. I cannot stress how subtle the lighting can be while being amazing at the same time. Again, if you aren't using the illuminated signage in your buildings you are missing out.

As much as I would love to take credit for this cosmic cow color scheme, my wife selected the colors as I built. Not my first choice, but all in all in didn't turn out all bad. This houses the info booth and a gift shop. Again, the paths work pretty good now as you can see it was not all that painful to line these up in a opposing stair style entrance. Since most of the early americana style buildings were blocky, I attempted to break up that feel with some layering and rounding off the stair structure. I almost curved the stairs too, but I could not think of a item that would match the rough stone wall structure in a compound curve. So I went with what you see. This building still manages to be one building item, I was not so lucky with any of the others. Updates to come.

This is my Brewery. There are no beer stalls, so I put the energy drink in here along with a bathroom and a first aid. The first aid is tucked into what is the loading bay. The building was stylized after the American Brewery but like the other building it would have been a giant square, so I broke it up some and shortened it. I did keep the tower as true to the original as I could given my object choices.

Thanks Oshino! Now a quick pic insert. I initially intended to run a long main to the end allowing an exit through the last building, but after looking my 4th building it just looked to long. Soooo, I broke it into several parts and reconfigured a little and ended up with a americana style news stand, corner drug store, small shops instead of the long version of the same. This was designed off buildings where the shopkeeps would live above the store they ran. Given that these also tended to be giant box shaped buildings, I did my normal adapting to give the building a little life. There is a bathroom on the back corner which will have a small covered seating nook. I also created some employee access areas (one pictured). Because I changed the config on that, I figured my building across from it could be done that way too. I had to break that one up more. These new paths will go out to other themed areas without having to go through the jungle area first. It should help the flow of guests also. Instead of the plaza at the end I will now have a pond and garde to accommodate the new configuration of the buildings. Thanks for lookin.

Rudi I was going for the fantistical theme parkish over the top type lighting. Disney at christmas time comes to mind. Probably not for everyone but I am glad you like the other stuff. And now on to the new items. Because I realigned my last four buildings I was forced to re think the plaza. It was either come up with 2 additional buildings and a concourse or ......

As you can see I added a river. As for the last building in the main drag. I was aiming for that gilded iron atrium that the wealthy steel barons would attach to their homes. These were styled after Victorian structures. I faked it as best I could. I also attempted to fake the appearance of light coming from inside the building. Please let me know if I should give that up. I think it looks passable. I also tried to mimic the gilding in the glass. They used a lot of scroll work in their pig iron frames. This took a little creative sign use to mimic. Other than that, it's time to start on the first themed area.

The king glass thing looks pretty weird on ground. Just my own opinion, you should take that out. Everything else looks awesome!

Yeah, that's not staying. It is actually for the fantasy theme area. It will only be 4 wide and just mark the entry into the zone. I was considering a tiled piece to break up the wide walkway's monotonous look and I already had that saved as a building object. I used it to work out the layout.

Started the jungle area. Overlapping rides, pathways, and scenery all crammed into a lost world. All the overlapping spots will be themed in and the jungle will surround it all. Kinda limited on the variety of ways to use the few objects that have the worn over the years look, but I'm going to see what I get. Just setting the basic foot prints right now.
