A rough concept of meaningful mining in Elite

Well, many players have posted their opinion about the new mining systems that
we were allowed to try in beta. I have also tried it and basically I liked
what I played. But.
I won´t become a miner. Not still. It just doesn´t make any good sense to be one.
After summing up all the actions and time invest into mining the results are not rewarding enough.
You can just sell the goods at a station and earn some money. Period.
Nothing else.. I mean... What´s the effect all this?

So I´ve started writing down a couple of points here:
What would be neccessary to be implemented into game to make mining meaningful for me?
I hope some of you agree on some points and others could maybe think of other
aspects that I have not thought of. Just add them here and lets hope some of it
is being implemented.

1) The wares you mine (and then sell) should have a market impact.
For example: You´ve mined metals, ores, whatever. Now if you´re selling that to an industrial
system the background market simulation alters a couple of different values, and as a result
the production of some/various (RNG-based logical selected) goods in that industrial system does increase.
ad1: I´d only make the really mined commodities give that effect, so mining is getting a boost of
importance compared to just traded in stuff. It´s not a big deal to implement a "hot"/"mined"flag thats indicating
whether the ores have been mined instead of bought from a market.
ad2: If you sell your ores not to an industry system but to an extraction economy system instead
the effect would be a different one:
Lets assume you´re selling a 100 of Painite to a station. The background economy simulation would
boost all the minerals stock values(not only Painite, but also Bromellite, Rutil.. whatever) to a certain degree
and lower their base price due to the rising supply. That would attract traders and boost those players in their T9 trucks.

2) There´s a chance of maybe 1 out of 100 that a special material drops from the core of a rock
That material you can carry to your engineer, who is really happy to get his hands onto that Ultrashinyum
And he offers you a special armor plating that is remarkably useful against thermal damage for example
However, it is too unstable and lasts in battle only for up to a hundret of laser hits (temporary buff)
Or There´s a chance of 1 out of 100 that a material drops which you can synthesize to a projectile ammo
that adds 50 rounds of corrosive damage buff. You get the idea.

3) There´s a chance of 1 out of 1000 that a special very shiny diamond/alloy structure drops from underground mining
That Vibroclimaxium is being paid ridiculous high prices for, like 15.Million Credits per unit.
And you have to ship them to Aisling Duval or to Arissa personally because they forbid anyone else posessing
massage devices of that high quality. Your design team can think of 10 other cleaner stories/places instead of this

4) Ancient findings. You´re mining already for an hour and detonate an ice asteroid. (Is that possible even? I don´t know atm)
When the dusts clear you find an ancient Guardian starship in the debris. You can collect some Guardian materials and
unlock an interesting story data fragment that can´t be found elsewehere.
Or you find spooky alien coffins that have to be carried to Ram Tah or Palin, whoever. And that starts an interesting
Mission series.

5) Mining scenarios. Okay, think about mining scenarios. What could happen?
you could find a stranded ship sticked to an asteroid, you have to send a repair limpet or something and get
a reward and/or some commodities dropping from the rescued ship as well a very sincere thank you from the
spaceman you´ve saved the life of.

6) The new dust and nebulae in asteroid rings are sometimes dangerous. They could contain oxygen and hydrogen
and simply explode when firing mining lasers in. Effect would be similar to collisons at a stations entrance..
You´re thrown backwards turning 15 times and taking a bit of damage. Just for the shock of the moment :)

7) A mining rank (instead of the bloody cqc rank maybe? or just optional added)
Miners also want to show off what they do.

8) Make mined ores more valuable for damaged space stations that need to be repaired.
Gaiman Dock in 49 Arietis needs 273.653 Beryllium to be repaired? Well thats ordinary bulk Beryllium!
Beryllium from your refinery has got a much higher pureness and so there are just 2736 Units needed!
Miners unite and save the stations!

Please add things if you like. And Frontier, please work out a master plan behind mining.
I think it´s needed after the nice meant graphical additions.
If nothing like that comes, the mining system is not completed and integrated into the game still.
At least not for me.
