A run of bad luck

I passed through 36 systems in the Pru Eurk sector and 30 for them was 'M class' stars with nothing but ice worlds and asteroids, never seen so many M stars in one place.:( I do hope my next waypoint has a bit better selection of stars.

It can happen, but its not the worst. You can hit large stretches of unscoopables as well. The can occur (rarely) even in the thick of the arms.

Oh yeah... that's dang depressing when you hit a patch of ice-ball systems - one after another.

When I read the subject line, I had something different in mind. Bad luck, as in doing great for weeks, and then in a run of a couple hours, you face-plant two neutrons, a black hole, run into planetary rings (twice) trying to line up that pretty shot of a gas giant, and then find yourself parked in the loving touch of a binary star system.

That's when the game gods are telling you to log off for the day - come back later.

Nothing like losing 20% of your hull in a short period of time.

If it's the ice-ball systems run of bad luck, try going up or down a few dozen light years and see if that helps any.

At least you don't need to worry about refuelling if they're all M-class.

Unless you are trying to actually get somewhere just pick you stars....

I'm not in-game at the moment, so I can't check..so this is a guess: are you outside one of the spiral arms? The Gap, what I call the area between the Orion and Perseus Arms, has some stretches that are very much dominated by the M-star/ice-world type.

Just started my first foray into the black tonight, and had some rather boring systems so far. 5 systems, nothing but stars...and all close to the bubble. Called it a day in orbit over my first water world though...bland looking planet (all water, no land whatsoever, and looked to be a pretty quiet atmosphere with no visible clouds). That system...50+ scannables, I'll be there a while (I'm a completionist...when I get home, there will be a TON of stuff scanned).

No I'm heading round out arm of the galaxy heading to the core, I'm just taking the scenic route. But I guess it could be worse, it could be mainly brown dwarfs or Tauri stars.
