Newcomer / Intro A sad day...

I sold my Viper today. I'd been running the same frame, with varying loadouts, pretty much since release - I bought her about a week after signing up on Christmas Day. :(

I just had no role for her after buying the Vulture, and the 3 million or so credits will help to fund my blockade-running Asp.

The Full Stop

The Vulture sounds great though, I presume it's much more suited to Bounty Hunting than the Asp?

Not really, unless you compromise.

The class 3 hardpoints are awesome, but the power issues mean you have to have non-A rated module somewhere, be it the thrusters, the sensors or wherever. The only alternative is to run it with a crappy class E KWS.

It really shines in wings though - someone else can do the scanning and scooping. You just do the killing.

I have a few old ships scattered about. I sell all the components and leave the hull parked, not a lot of money "wasted" that way.

So it really is the Viper's big sister, a great ship which needs compromises when outfitting.

I shall most probably get one fairly soon (though no way am I selling the Asp - she's a beauty :) )

You can just downgrade to a C3 sensor. The B3 only has 1 KM range extra plus more mass and greater power draw. The A3 is the same mass as the C3 but uses MUCH more power only for 1 KM gain. Not really worth it in my opinion.

The Full Stop! Funny how attached we get to the tough little ships.

What's the Vulture called?
Pereat Moderatio Oppressiva

AAaaaaannnnd the curse of the Asp strikes again.

I just redecorated an asteroid in an RES. Wasn't even in combat; I was using lateral thrusters to manoeuvre around a rock, and another one snuck up on me. Sneaky bar steward. A few minutes later, after I'd stopped crying, I hit a sysauth ship in the same RES. As I ran back to base, I boosted into the letterbox, and was scanned. I parked before the scan had time to complete.... Or so I thought. I paid off the fine and ducked back out to head back to the RES whereupon I was attacked by every sysauth ship circling the station (they were all yellow, by the way) telling me a crime had been detected, etc., etc.

Shields gone (A5 with 2x A class shield enhancers) and 5% damage, I jumped out. It seems that the upshot of players not disappearing into the station (so that they can maintain comms with other players) is that the instance isn't reset when you dock. Be aware, CMDRs!

May the oppressive moderation perish? :) My Latin has gotten rusty...

...and that's why I pay of my fines and bounties at outposts when possible. Good to know, though.

I was running with a buddy in a decked out Python last night and it was an excellent combo. He did the scanning, I knocked off the shields with some laser fire and then the poor got multi-cannoned to death. Even by itself, the Vulture is a deadly little vessel, but I prefer to fly with friends because it opens up all sorts of new strategies.

Moderatio is government. Or so I thought.

There's only the Coriolis in the system I was in. Fortunately, repairs no longer cost all arm and a leg!

3 Million for an empty Viper chassis  I jest :p
.
Heh, I've just been stung by the hidden costs of selling the chassis, apparently 10%, never noticed it when I was messing about with the smaller ships. I'd just sell them and upgrade.
I only realised I'd been dropping credits when I went to upgrade to an Asp, didn't have enough, thought I'd drop down to a Cobra, couldn't quite get it set up, so went back to the original T-6 build for a few more runs to make up the difference. Only to find out I'm now 750k down (at least that days play :( ).
.
I wish I'd been a bit more sentimental now and just stripped the chassis out and have them waiting in the hangar if I ever want to go back to them.
