A sever issue? Killed by invisible ship...

I was just flying around the station at Azeban (just to see if there were any other players around) when I suddenly came under attack from behind. There was no "warning, under attack", no sound of the shots hitting my ship, and no sign of the attacker, not even on the scanner. The only sign I had that I was being hit was the shield display on the right suddenly started showing hits and the percentage was dropping. I had no way of avoiding the shots, or evading the attacker, and I died.

I can only assume that it was a player as I'd not violated any station regulations or attacked any ships. :mad:

What was message when you died? There can be many things going wrong before blaming player for attack, especially with police around.

No message. I was near the station, but outside the no fire zone, nor was I mass locked. I'd not attacked anything, bumped into anything and I don't have a wanted level (all the usual reasons for the AI to attack). I just came under attack by an unseen ship.

Actually that's a good point. In PB it told you that you were killed by CMDR {insert name here} on the menu screen you get after you die. If an NPC killed you that was never stated.

Exactly the same thing happened to.me outside Azeban this morning.

I was picking up a couple of canisters of grain that were floating outside Azeban station when I was destroyed very quickly and without warning.

The game informed me that I'd been killed by Azeban Station.

I think the station defences are a bit twitchy. Or perhaps they were tagetting the cargo canisters?

Probably worth a ticket, I'll do so now.

Yeah report ticket with precise timing and place where it happened, FD should be able to look it up. If that was a station, well, that's one bug, if that's player - another.

Once you had picked up those stolen goods were you scanned?

If so hat is why the station attacked you. If not it is worth reporting as a ticket.

The reason I thought it may have been a player is I've seen reports of friends trying to play together and one of them being able to see their friends ship, but the other one cannot. So I thought that perhaps it was someone that I'd not seen due to a server glitch.

I was attacked from behind, and there was nothing behind me on the scanner. If it was the station I would have seen it firing at me and been hit from the front because I tried to escape by flying back towards the station no fire zone where the police vipers are usually stationed, so the station would have been in front of me.

It was a very odd occurrence.
