Horizons A Short Guide to the New Assassination Format

So all of you who like doing assassination missions may have noticed that your target will not appear in super-cruise despite your searching. This is normal because the Assassination mission format has CHANGED. Does this mean that your target cannot appear in super-cruise? No, your target CAN appear in super-cruise, however, you can spare yourself a lot of time and effort if you complete these missions using the new format.

Here are the steps:
  1. First scan the target system with an advanced discovery scanner. An advanced discovery scanner is very important in the new system. If you don't have one or can't afford one you can always scan the nav beacon as well.
  2. You will recieve a message from your contractor telling you to head to a target body in the system. Head there.
  3. Once you are at the target body (your location will update to the body), wait in super-cruise and search for signal sources.
  4. Eventually your ship will tell you "mission objective detected" and a mission target signal source will appear. Drop into that signal source and your target will be there.

P.S. Remember that there is 30 minute time slot for when this signal source will appear. Make sure you are in that time slot. I also can't guarantee that the signal source will appear instantly. It is rng based so I wish everyone the best luck when looking for it.

I've read on the forums that the time slot doesn't even matter -- that you can go complete the mission instantly once you sign up without having to wait around for the proper window.

Recently, I haven't even scanned the NAV as the information is auto loaded into your ship data when you enter the target system.

These missions have become rote, in earlier ED versions you could find yourself fighting a Corvette or a wing to get to your target.
