A Short Rant... Sort Of

So, I felt like being productive in ED today.

I could do with some extra cash, manufactured materials, combat rank, and training my Master crew member up.

What better way than to do a conveniently close CZ CG!

I load up my Anaconda with guns and limpets. Lots of limpets. And guns. And headed off to the CG.
Signed up, and flew out to a High Intensity CZ.

I decided to play it lazy, and deploy my cargo hatch, SLF, and limpets ready for collecting all the goodies my enemies drop.

First target. Anaconda. Locking, fly in...
*Pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew*
*Limpet Destroyed*

*Limpet Destroyed*
*Limpet Destroyed*
*Limpet Destroyed*
*Limpet Destroyed*
*Limpet Destroyed*
*Limpet Destroyed*
*SLF destroyed*
....

So I wait, kill the Anaconda, then deploy limpets. And eventually my SLF again.
Despite having many many many limpets in the air, collection is painfully slow.
And because limpets are so slow, I basically turn my Anaconda in to the world's slowest turret. Using my SLF to lure ships to me, then blowing them to bits.
Within a few minutes, I'm swimming in materials. White squares fill my radar.
Rejoice!

CURSE YOU POINT DEFENCE!

Still swimming in cloud of materials, I deploy even more limpets, when I suddenly get the attention of several ships at once.

Not wanting to leave my cosy nest of materials, I continue to be a stationary turret. Which, in hind sight, was probably a bad idea.

I seem to be alone here. All the fighting had wandered off, probably due to my cloud of materials clogging up everyone's sensors, leaving me with just my useless drone army, my SLF and me, to fight off several ships at once. Ideally without moving...

Dear God!
My shields drop, due to my SCB being switched off... By me. Weeks ago.. I don't remember why, and I take the time to make an informed decision to leave behind my cloud of mostly uncollected materials, and get the hell out.

Now my Anaconda doesn't have much armour. I consider it a waste of money, and mass. So by the time I jumped to supercruise, I had many many, many holes on my ship.

No matter. Reboot repair.
Turn around, and go back in. With 40% hull.

I decide to stick to the outside of the battle this time, and deploy more limpets while luring in unsuspecting victims again.
Before long, I have a huge cloud of materials again.
Sit safely in the knowledge that all the remaining enemies are some 5km away, and I await my reward of 100s of materials.
*Limpet drone error. Deploy cargo scoop*.
Oops!

*Pressing button*....*nothing*...
DEPLOY DAMN YOU!
*presses again*...
*Nothing*...

*Checks module tab*.
CARGO HATCH: 0%...

Oh you €¢°¥#&!?@!!!!

I didn't bring an AFMU.

Then...
*Fwip... Fwip... Fwip Fwip Fwip*
Annnd I'm surrounded and alone again. Time to go!

I returned to the dock to repair and cash in my bonds.

Cashed in 870k in bonds. 30~% goes to my useless crew.

Repair bill: 1.1million.

:p

That'll teach me to be productive!

I'm just imagining Steptoe and Son trundling through the middle of the battlefield at El-Alamein, sifting through the debris, and dodging 88mm shells.

"Combat tourism" never ends well.

I use a shield less DBS in CZ's and scoop what I need directly. It's much easier.

Edit: And my full repair bill at 4% hull is less than one BGS turn in.

Usually does for me. I rarely make a dedicated combat build. :D

I think I just got too lazy. I was also experimenting with a new weapon setup, which is only half modified.

Last time I took my DBS in to combat was when I was new. :D
