A strange day in the galaxy.

It has been a strange day in the galaxy today.

It started with me waking up to find I had a hauler fill of cargo, but eventually I remembered I was on my way from Ix to Lembava to ferry one of my ships back from there to my new home port, the cargo was to compensate somewhat for the depreciation on the hull.

So I get to Lembava and am busy lining up on the station where I am going to swap ships having already doubled my money on the cargo, when I get interdicted, nothing too strange for most of you slightly rare event for me, a quick submission followed by the decision not to take on a mere FAS in my mighty Hauler taxi and I am back in super cruise to the station here I obey the speed limits request docking permission and am granted access to pad 12, so through the letterbox, deploy the gear, locate the pad and WTH!

There is an NPC parked on my pad, maybe it is a hologram to make them look busy try to land anyway, 200 cr fine for being too close to another ship, HE'S on my F G PAD!!!!!! calm down take a stress pill and wash it down with a large scrumpy. I leave the dock and try again he is still there, I leave the dock again with 2 minutes of my allotted time left, cancel the docking and start again, this time I am on pad 38 and it is empty.

So swap ships and I am off back to Ix in my iEagle, other than getting reminded of what a fun ship it is nothing much happens.

So one ship left to go, this time I set up a Sidewinder as my cargo taxi, this was almost a mistake, I load up my massive cargo of 4 tons of Medical Diagnostic Stuff and set off. Part way though I am told I have insufficient fuel, a quick change to economical changes the route from two jumps remaining to 3. The first is microscopic, I can barely see the fuel required mark on my gauge the second is longer but will get me to a scoopable star with just about enough fuel to reach scooping range (sorry Fuel Rats), I make it and start scooping at minimal throttle.

Then I get the message "I have been looking for just such a haul as this", you have to be kidding 4 tons of this!

Actually I was looking forward to finally trying something, quickly I turn away from the star as I cut throttle, on my scanner I see a solid triangle move quickly from the front left to the rear right, where behind me and nearer to the star it vanishes.

After that things returned to normal, I barely made a profit on the cargo that earlier had doubled its money and after I get online I have a Sidey to break up and sell for parts then It is time to take my new Python freighter to Ix.

But has anyone else been blocked off their pad by an NPC?

Yes. Once, quite a while ago. I cancelled the docking, re-requested docking permission, and my new pad was empty.
Nice tactics using the star when an npc was out to get you btw.

I have seen it suggested a lot, it was my first opportunity to try it.

I was probably only slightly less amazed that it worked than the NPC.

Well, just this night I requested docking permission, got assigned a landing pad and when I GoT to it, nothing. No blue landing zone beneath me. But also no ship occupying the pad.
So I flew out, cancelled docking, tried again and all was as it should be.
Still, weird bug. Haven't had that one before ever. Sounds partially similar to what hapenned to you.

"Oi, mate, you're in my parking spot".

Think this has happened to quite a few of us. It seems if you cancel the docking request and attempt again, all is well. I always assumed there was just some kind of sneaky in-game faction that's entire purpose in life was to steal parking spaces, just because they could (rather than the obvious instancing bug that it is). ;)
