A tale of greed :-(

So, I discovered a fantastic trade route and eager to increase my profits even further, I sold my shield generator in favour of more cargo space.
With my Hauler now equipped with 12 tonnes of space, I took the risky move of investing everything I owned into cargo. All 50k of it. If it worked, 10k profit, if I fail… well, back to a stock sidewinder for me.

I make the jump and heart is pounding while the distance ticks down. Then bam! Attempted interdiction. With some sweat and skill I avoid it. Heart still pounding as the distance ticks down, then here we go again, another bad guy attempting to take my precious cargo and another interdiction. As before, skill wins out and I escape. Now we start getting closer to the station, just a few ls away and I start to slow down. Lured into a false sense of security I start to relax, then interdiction and no chance to avoid it. I get that familiar pirate ‘give me your cargo or die’ and like the coward I am, I make a run for it. It’s close and I get shot up pretty bad, hull down to around 18%, but I manage to slip away when I hear the angelic voice of the ships computer reassuring me that the frameshift is charging.

Finally I make it to the station and have overwhelming relief when I enter the no fire zone. With a sense of joy I line up with the station entrance and make my way to the landing pad for a text book landing. My elation is short lived however and soon turns to despair as I navigate the commodities market only to discover, in my hast to to become rich, I forgot to buy the cargo :S

I have a hauler with 18 tonnes of space (2x8 tonnes and 1x2Tonnes) I sold my Basic discovery scanner to get the last 2 tonnes to complete a coupke of missions, and now I can't buy back a BDS anywhere as yet). I could sell my ship and just buy a new one to get my BDS back, but the I'll lose my class a power coupler and 14 (16?) LY frameshift drive. anyway the point is a hauler can get an easy 16 tonnes without losing anything important.

2 nights ago, I left a system to go and buy several tonnes of computer componants. After 2 jumps, I reached my destination, docked and went to the commodities screen to find no CC's for sale. I checked my spreadsheets to see that they were for sale cheap at the station that wanted them in the first place...................

Hahaha.

FWIW I packed a gimballed burst laser in my hauler before I sold it. Gave a few interdictors a nasty surprise, I can tell you !

Nice... I did some similar things, sometimes we are too nervous and forget to do basic moves.....

hahaha brilliant.

I was mining and I cruise up to the roid with cargo scope retracted to speed up the process. By accident I pressed the boost button instead of the target button on a fragment and because the scope was retracted and I had no shields, I boosted straight into the roid and killed myself :)

Lesson learnt with a full cargo of expensive metals :) Remember to deploy scope immediately upon reaching said Asteroid to stop the boost from funtioning :)

Awww. I actually laughed at this, and only did because I have done a very similar thing.

I traded my shields on my trader, fully loaded jumped to my destination. Got interdiction and but escaped by the skin of my teeth (and only because I had managed to upgrade my thrust and kept pressing Z). I actually managed to escape. Get to my system and as quickly as I could flew full pelt into the station.

In panic I actually forgot to ask permission to dock and within a few seconds got the trespass warnings....

At this stage I was well inside the station and had to back up and exit as fast a I could...

By a fraction of a second I managed to get out and escape the threat of being blown up to smithereens.....

I was ah this point screaming very loudly at myself, the computer and at the gods themselves.....lol

I was soooo lucky I managed to re-dock and managed to sell my wares for a healthy profit.

But I has so much fun my other half came down complaining about the stress levels I was putting out and not getting that I was loving every minute of it.

I love this game.....

You're not a elite commander until you've made a tough fought journey to a station, only to discover you've forgotten to actually buy your precious cargo.

We've all done it, but it doesn't make it any easier.

Welcome to the club :)
