I've read a few short stories on here from Commanders that have had things go wrong for them, I had something happen to me last night. I still don't know what happened or how, whether it was a bug or something similarly bizarre, but it was enough to turn the air blue around me, and exit the game for the night. It was one of those small things that occasionally happen and escalates so rapidly you're left wondering, 'What just happened?'
There i was happily upgrading my Cobra MKIII, experimenting with the Map info, showing me different types of systems, and looking for some hired muscle to try and help raise my reputation with the local Black market station, which has dropped to unfriendly. I had been out in an Anarchy system recruiting some workers that i was hoping would raise my reputation again. I arrived back fully loaded managed to clear off about 3 bulletin board missions, which were offering help for the under-privileged, and those seeking retirement, etc. this raised my profile a little bit, but i was left with some folks from fancier backgrounds, who still needed work, so I decided to head over to the local Imperial station and see if i could find work and other activities for them there.
The journey over was uneventful, i dropped out of supercruise and made my way to the station, as soon as i breached the airlock i registered my mistake, I had forgotten to request docking permission. The warning came up, the countdown started, 30 seconds. No problem, I'll just turn round head straight back out, get some distance and then request docking clearance land and pay my fine. Except, whilst my view changed and i could see the Airlock in front of me, something strange happened, it seemed to get further away, and the next thing i noticed, i was bouncing off the inside of the station exploding.
Rebuy value 100k approx, not too bad.
Lost bounties, 250k in Federation Space, 138k in Alliance space
Lost Cargo, 8 tons of Personal Weapons and 18 Tons of Imperial Slaves.
Confused Look on my face pondering what just happened - Priceless....
I'm still trying to figure out what happened, this is not the first time I've picked up the fine for Trespassing and doubt it will be the last, but it felt like a complete loss of control of my ship, I really don't know how to explain it. I'm only just starting to experiment with Flight Assist off in the depths of space, so it wasnt that.
Just want to say before people start saying things like dont fly what you cant afford to loose, or dont come crying on the Forums about your loss, this isnt that sort of post, Its meant to show some of the really new players that even after you have been playing a little while and your going great, the unexpected can still reach out and touch you. And also hopefully make a few people laugh.
