A tale of Ugh!

Earlier today on my way back to from farming bounties for a CG in my Vulture, I was interdicted. Now, I was squeaky clean, not wanted by anybody. There was a lot of traffic on the scanner when I got interdicted, meaning a lot of clutter, so I couldn't really see what was targeting me. My first thought was that, as usual, it was just another npc pirate or authority ship trying to pull me out of SC. In those cases, I usually just opt to submit and either collect the bounty or jump back into SC and not take the time or risk failing to escape interdiction. In this case, WRONG CHOICE! It turned out to be a 3-man wing with at least one python, right on my six. I did the best I could and almost made it out alive. My FSD had just fully charged when they managed to finally take out my drives and down went the rest of my hull. SO CLOSE. I really didn't have any choice but to run. I could have pulled the plug and quit out, but I don't do that. I take my lumps. But as soon as I spawned back at the dock, I did rage quit, haha.

And I still love this game.

Even though I not only lost about 500k, but I also lost the 500k I just spent almost an hour farming at the RES and was going to turn in towards the CG. I don't know why they jumped me. I know I wasn't wanted. I guess they were out purely griefing for kicks I guess. But, that's what makes it Dangerous out there.

I let my guard down.

That's not going to happen again.

p.s. I hope whomever that was posts here. I'd love to hear your side of it.

I smell EvE. It's s-t-r-o-n-g (bragging about dying and how much was lost as a counter to what gamers normally feel of losing a fortune and having a death stat [which in other games is an insult]).

If you normally play other games this culture of accepting such loses as "part of the game" it will never catch on (especially if you're a WoW player [norm in WoW is 2 wipes and d/c]). Best to play ED solo if you come from any game but EvE.

If you're a EvE player, this is your buddy thread. ^-^

EVE is far worse. Far far far worse than ED. That game is literally built around the idea of appeasing sociopaths.

That must be why rouge-likes and Dark Souls are massively unpopular right now. Have you been so entrenched in WoW so long now, that you've become naive of other game styles?

There is a large player base of gamers that actually want challenging and often punishing games, it's not mainstream but it's much bigger than I think you understand, and is more than enough to sustain a game like ED, which is more a middle of the road game when it come to risk and death penalties.

You're own bias is obvious here, but it doesn't reflect the actual diversity of game-play tastes in the gaming community.

You are far more forgiving than I would have been....to each their own I suppose. I believe I saw the commanders in question making the hubbub in HR 706 and they either didn't notice me or figured no point.

If it was the last scenario then they guessed correctly, because having over 5 mil in bounties to turn in and being in an Imperial Clipper I would have immediately put 4 pips to engines and left them in the dust. No way I would lose all that money taking a chance with some commanders screwing with people doing the community goal for the lulz.

From my time in 0.0, yeah, much much worse. Left after this...

As the whole Technium exploit; "blue donut" (and the betrayals); Goon vs Test and more tomfoolery. WoW can be bad, seriously b-a-d, but it's 10x better than that drama...it at least has some measure of law and order. ^-^

L-o-v-e it's trade system (best in MMOs), but the rest can be flushed down the toilet.

It will never be acceptable for me to lose a ship, ever. And that's not just a WoW player talking. It's because we lost some fine astronauts over the years, and hate to view their sacrifices as some sociopathic fantasy game mechanic itself ("just accept it").

"Fly safe" is truly fly safe.

Just some polish with ED and it'll do as the EvE replacement people been asking for (a PvE EvE), EvE players already have their own game, the PvErs do not.
