We've all received the sad news that Dr. Stephen Hawking has died tonight, and given his monumental influence on science, I find it only fitting that the E
community honor him. I'm trying to set up a memorial flight to V1357 Cygni (Cygnus X-1), the site of a black hole that was a friendly wager between Hawking and another physicist. Hawking bet that the x rays coming from the system weren't from a black hole in 1975, but in 1990 he admitted all the evidence points indeed towards there being a black hole there. I'm sure all of you know who Dr. Hawking was, and the immense debt we all owe to him for furthering our understanding of the universe cannot be understated. This is my first post in the forums though I've been playing the game since beta, but I'd really like to set something up to honor Dr. Hawking. We can't yet, IRL, lay eyes on the actual system to determine whether or not he was right, but we can provide him a tribute in game.
Anyone interested? Looking to do this on the weekend, but I know that getting people on at the same time across different time zones and the like is a challenge.
Bonus points if you play Cygnus X-1 while flying to Cygnus X-1.
