A trip out in the verse (Exploration Finds)

Lol the name of the thread was inspired more by the old Firefly TV series but I'll take a look at that game also

So there's something there then? Some sort of celestial body? Sorry, I'm not sure I understand.

When a planet doesn't orbit a star but a center of mass there would be no place to show in the system map where they start from. In order to have something at the end of the line the game will place an X to represent the center of mass. Look at the following picture for example; there the planets are orbiting 3 suns out of a trinary system (the full system had 6 suns but that's not important here). In order to represent this there's an X placed between all of them and then the normal lines to the right with the planets.

Look for explanation eg. here

Ah I see now. That makes perfect sense. I don't know why I couldn't figure that out haha! Thank you both for the explanation.

almost a week after returning to TELLUS finally sold the last data from the trip out to about ~2000LY from inhabited space ... a top10 system value pic will be coming but first ... the overall benefit of the 4-day exploration trip:

Starting balance:

Rank:
Trailblazer Exploration Profit: 848,294 CR
MLocwIo.png

Ending balance:
Rank: Pathfinder Exploration Profit: 4,208,843 CR
Trip Profit: 3,360,549 CR

Also as soon as the last few systems come in I'll surpass my trading profits via exploration ;)

Aah, you are getting paid then? Have a couple of systems on my ship computer that cartographics wont pay up for...

They will appear it just takes a while ... so for me it took almost 7 days to process that one 4 day trip. Be patient and keep selling.

Also just doing another trip now ... already found some fun pics

Nice finds !!!
You have just beaten my records with T Tauri stars by a large margin. I hope what they look like (what their system look like) is just a placeholder because it's wrong on so many levels...

Yeah but it's not only the look, those numbers in the description look way, way off too. I think that the devs should take a closer look at their PG formulas because some things seen in this thread shouldn't be happening.

Congratulations on successfully selling the data. Trailblazer here, as well, but with barely a little over 1mln-profit from exploration and half your amount of visited systems. However, my profit was cut down because before I was able to sell all of my data I lost my Cobra to, guess what, pad loitering  Thinking that I hadn't been shying of fighting Anacondas and lost it in this way seems somehow very funny to me but I wonder how much of it is of hysteria ;)

That depends on eg. what you define as the surface of T Tauri star. But yes, there are definitely bugs with formulas and I ticketed them whenever they seemed really off, eg. in case of F5 I supergiant that had 1.3 solar masses and 1.2 solar radius. If you find some dubious without any uncertainty just ticket them (yeah, I know how it sounds ;) ) - they need help in identifying issues because the Galaxy is so huge.

3: HIP 74657 with 65888CR
O class star with companion neutron star ... 3 high content metal + 1 metal rich planet ... apparently it was worth a lot
QDB7K5V.png

2: PRAEA EUQ FI-J D9-27 with 68120CR
A 6-ary star system with an Earth Like Planet orbits the first trinary part of the system
6N65mw2.png

MmAmFaV.png

1: HR 6164 with 68380 CR
An O class star with crazy rotation speed (full rotation in about 25 seconds) with 2 black holes and a neutron star.
A metal rich planet and 2 high metal content are in the system

The 2nd great exploration trip has also been finished and will be coming shortly ... stayed within ~300LY of TELLUS but got to see many awesome systems in the areas of the LUPUS DARK REGION; Pics will be coming soon

The second expedition was a much shorter hop to the LUPUS DARK REGION and then continuing on to the nearest 2 O-class stars before turning back towards home.

Just another Ringed World
NIvEQUP.png

Large heavy planet ... also this system really is pro-life
AZc9SEi.png
ULFTxlL.png
VUHJgzh.png

Interesting view as we enter a system
... did Fdev license the Mickey Mouse logo?
mrGZHYs.png

HIP 79439 is ringed heaven
3rd planet is miners dream ... pristine (I assume) metallic rings
c5X8lmz.png
Oh look another Earth Like Planet with rings! .. Awesome
sS82WzT.png
Heh you though the previous 2 were nice? ... how about an Earth Like Planet with a pristine metallic ring and pristine metal rich ring
iUKfsGc.png

This is an old star? ...
... interesting how it looks weird when starforge works correctly
icdraLk.png

Ok I thought these were supposed to be rare .. what's going on?

Who needs Helium .. lets make carbon ...
... with S class stars
NX7B1DN.png

Got to the next O-class star ... HIP 63835
... it looks interesting from the star description
RWlcJBb.png
.. Lets see how many of those new discovered objects are stars ... uhm quite a bit (that's 14 stars and 3 black holes)
9ldsLK5.png
... it's fairly close to SOL also
GbIeYgC.png
... dont think I'll be getting close to that black hole ... but how in the hell is this star still around!!!
Q3ixGDT.png
so a 15.4 Solar Mass black hole is orbiting within 0.7 days orbit of an O-class star ...
9TXnWWx.png
Really ... an 'Icy Planet'
AxEvFme.png
That's a hot jacuzzi atmosphere
Rc3UPi4.png
.. last but not least a 4k screenshot of the gravitational lensing occuring near the 4th black hole with the many stars/planets orbiting the black hole binary in the background

More miners rejoice
.. metallic rings for everyone
Ol2E5nn.png
.. and you dont have to go far to find the other one

even if some are very tiny!

Guys DK2 is off .. I dont need to see double!
cprwwWv.png

Last notable stop was a visit was to:
an O0Vz star
NCTNJK8.png
... was so happy to get there since it was 130k LY from main
YkxcTxr.png
... that I forgot to slow down ... thank god for emergency stop!
vuVraOp.png

A very nice surprise also was the all the data I gathered I was able to instantly sell when returning! ... so no more waiting around for days before the next trip.

Good to know, thanks. I've fully scanned 40 systems so far. I guess I will stop playing too close to the black holes now, lol.

<grin>

I've definitely felt the sting of losing a few hundred LYs worth of exploring to a poorly handled interdiction. It's something you learn from quickly.

Just a few pictures of the trip out to NGC 8722 ... will not show too many in-system pics as everyone should really visit it themselves but here's some great views there and back:

NGC8722 Nebula
The first spotting back in Gamma 1.01 ... engines ready .. lets do this

That's a lot of metal

I wonder if I could tow this .. at 0 mass it sounds tempting ;)
3DjS0BY.png

Moving back towards TELLUS home base now still had a few interesting views and locations.

This planet has a water atmosphere?
BppCnSr.png

A cold star ...
That's -20*C how the hell am I overheating when I get near it !?!
Yoyk6fE.png

Got to love the Wolf-Rayet stars .. last jump there

QDFlZyd.png

Ah a very nice looking water world to terraform ...
Xk4XoyS.png
... on the other hand I probably wouldn't be comfortable seeing the system it's in ...

The spoils of this trip? ...
a little over 5Mil ... and Ranger exploration rank now
