A very enjoyable little mission

Just had one of those missions you wish always popped up. It was a massacre mission, 24 pirates of the neighbouring system for the tidy reward of around 3.6m CRs. Quick check showed the target system was marked as medium security and the only resource area was quite a distance from the primary. Normally with these types of missions I gravitate to the HAZ RES or HIGH REZ sites or fly around dropping into every USS that pops up. This time I tried something different - I dropped into the Nav Beacon. I did have a second personal task, needed specific mats for the next Engineering blueprint.

Anyhoo, dropped into the beacon, lots of ships, nearly all clean and a smattering of lovely green icons (Authority ships). After a minute or two, the first mission target ship turned up, it was despatched, a minute or so respite then the next, and so on and so on. Between the regular 'waves' of mission targets I had enough time to cruise around checking any debris for the mats I was after. One of the mats is only dropped from freighters so when I saw one of those that was marked WANTED, they met a quick death and I was back snooping through the floating rubbish for the required mats. Before I knew it, I had the message pop up saying I had completed the mission, so I exited the area, dropped into the nearest station in the target system to hand in any local bounties then a quick jump to my home system to get the reward. Just to clarify, a lot of the targets were of low value, low rank and I normally wouldn't have bothered even chasing them, but since every the cheapest bounty on the weakest Eagle is still classified as a mission target, they were welcome targets.

All in all, for about 90 minutes of my time, I completed the mission (24 dead pirates), got the mats I was after - and far more, and picked up enough other targets of opportunity for a nice tidy purse of just under 5m CR. Definitely going that route again, far easier and more enjoyable than a HAZ RES etc where I am constantly looking over my shoulder so to speak.

Lucky you. I spent 4 hours and found 3 pirates out of 16 doing all of the above that counted towards the mission.
