A very unhappy interdictor

Hi, everyone. Just wanted to share something that happened.

First, I'm a trader. That's what I do. I run cargo, parcels and messages from place to place. I'm not that great of a fighter, but that's fine. I love making money. So I was on a 6 part jump and after about 3 of them I had turned away from the star and engaged the hyper drive. I was just about to engage when I got interdicted.

I'm a fair hand at evading. Some want to roll to align. Screw that. Pitch and yaw and I evade more than 80%. I evaded this one and right as I went into hyper space I see on my comm a Cmdr Dog something, (I think) and he told me to perform an obscene act on myself. I wasn't offended. I was actually amused and I don't want him punished. He got punished enough by losing the interdiction.

Now that's the kind of PvP I like. I can't win in a pew pew against a human. Most times I can't win against an NPC, but I do know how to evade and trade.

He should be reported though. I am in the same situation, I avoid conflict because I can't fight for toffee, yet I stay in OPEN, because it's part of the fun. You're doing the same and people like this guy are the ones that can make us doubt that decision.

Well, since I can't remember the name exactly, I'm not going to file a report. And that would be sis, not bro as I am indeed female.

As for solo, what fun is that? Nothing gets the blood pumping like being prey:D

So broette is off the table then eh?

Ok then, cool story sis... really doesnt have the same ring to it though.

Not quite sure why he needs reporting to be honest, if you are in Open then you should expect players to attempt PvP. If you don't want that group or solo is probably the way to go - I play group almost exclusively...

I think it was the language used in text message that Kelly is speaking of.

IMHO it is open play, it should be expected. Not that I like it, and there is no call for it. It's frankly, a reflection of the offenders poor education. Come on, lets at least try to make it colorful without being rude. :p

Well, I wasn't going to report him anyway. I just thought it was amusing and wanted to share.

And you can call me broette if you want:D

Not for the PvP attempt. Jeez.

For rudely abusing someone over text comms!

I got interdicted last night by a player in a Viper, I didn't catch his name so I didn't know who to avoid if I saw him again.

Anyway, I was in a T6, which has incredibly terrible turning speeds, especially with interdictions. There are some interdictions that are actually impossible to evade, and it doesn't help much that I use KB+M, though maybe there's no advantage for that in an interdiction, idk. That's besides the point, though. I saw it was a player and so I submitted, expecting to be pirated. I sent him a message, saying "hello," and he immediately opened fire on me the second he loaded into the instance. I didn't have any upgrades to the T6 in regards to combat or survivability, and to my amazement, even though I promptly jumped out as soon as humanly possible, I left with 59% hull. My shields lasted not even a second (made sure to dump that class 3 piece of crap).

That left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps it's the content/race toward Elite that prompted whoever this was to attempt the murder of a player for no reason, but being mainly a bounty hunter myself, it soured my mood a little. I was completely clean, no bounties on my head, and had plenty of pricey cargo. He never bothered to speak to me or ask me anything, all he wanted to do was destroy me. That's the kind of crap that gives "PvP" a bad name. There's no logical reason to do what he was doing. However, I WAS in an anarchy system at the time, so my only guess is "haha, here's a player in a defenseless T6 in a lawless system, time to kill him for laughs!"

Too bad for him I knew how to escape.

While I don't endorse trashtalk, the OP makes it sound like we're talking about one short line of bad language here. I'd not go as far as to call that "abusing" somebody.

And if it was for me to decide, I'd flat ban such entities (and force remote uninstall) - would clean the air quite a bit. But that's just me - on the other hand I might as well turn around and go shoot them in the face with quad of MCs and duo of lasers.

Honestly, the worst punishment somebody should receive for a first time offense in this manner is a temporary chat ban. Second offense, longer chat ban, third offense, permanent chat ban. There's no reason to ban people from the game itself just because they can't behave themselves. Piracy is a part of this game, so are random maniacs and psychopaths who open fire at you for no reason, if the AI is any indication, so no matter how hostile some people may be in language, they can't really break any rules in gameplay terms.

I don't mind piracy in the least - and my post has nothing to do with pirates, except for the part of gunning them down for giggles. It's just my mindset - I don't mind being attacked, but I do mind heavily if spat bad language at.

No one deserves to be banned for a single line of angry trash talking spoken in the heat of the moment. Yes, it's something no one should do, of course, and it's pretty immature, though it could be appropriate depending on context. However, calling it "abuse" or "harassment" or grounds for a ban speaks poorly of some people's skin thickness. You need to let that stuff roll off your back. The internet is not a place to be overly sensitive, and these are the kinds of things that sure, could make you angry, but are best handled by laughing at your opponent and walking away. OP came out on top, so there's nothing to worry about here.

I know. I'm just saying, if you take away their chat privileges, those "entities" wouldn't cause any harm anymore, but be good for the game as a whole as they'd do their part in making it more "Dangerous". So if you get toxic individuals, chat ban them, don't ban them from playing.
