A way to "apologize" out of friendly fire incidents.

Sometimes you (or a crew member) accidentally shoots the wrong target. This can instantly turn an entire combat zone against you, a bad scenario!

I have often thought that it was kinda lame there is no way to "apologize" for accidental friendly fire.

So here is a suggestion.

Consider adding a safety valve for times when friendly-fire draws agro.

There should be a way for the Helm to "apologize" its way out of agro that has been drawn, whether as a result of accidental friendly fire, or by firing on a ship before it's fully scanned, etc.

Such an "apology" could be made by withdrawing hardpoints and standing down from combat for a cool-down period (or something like this). Maybe have a "my bad" button that broadcasts an apology on all frequencies.

Such an "apology" should only work for the first couple of infractions—a three-strikes-and-you're-out policy should be maintained per target. That way you can't keep abusing it. This seems like it would be realistic, since in a real combat zone, it would probably be impossible to avoid some friendly fire, and I would expect there'd be a way around it.

This would actually be nice regardless of if you're in multi-crew, since I've had gimbaled weapons mis-target in the past. But it would be especially useful when you're not the active gunner.

One problem is that some enemy ships have the ability to disappear off radar, and then briefly as "neutral"—in which case if they are shot, it can draw agro from friendly ships. I don't know if this is a bug, but it's really annoying nonetheless.

Quite seriously, it is the poor abilities of CMDRs. I seen this tonight as a Captain shot MCs at the Target with a Cop Conda clearly behind it and we get WANTED for obvious reasons. I was GUNNER and had 1 Beam which even I stopped firing at this time. If a CMDR is to blame then learn to get better. Never fire at Chaff and never waste MC/Missiles ammo on Shields.

Now then, the only other method you get WANTED other than bad players is by your NPC Crew! I had this 3 consecutive times yesterday and so posted a thread on this. The 3rd time surprized me the most as the outcome was...Not only did I become WANTED and learned to forget about the Fighter if I was amongst asteroid's Mass Lock but I already known that they DO NOT DISSENGAGE unless you RECALL FIGHTER!
Guess what - I forget about him and ran - he then continues and KILLS THE COP!!! 5000Cr Bounty on me now thank you!!!

So not only learn to control what you are firing and when BUT also learn to RECALL NPC FIGHTER before you do a runner but forget about them docking and use it to break off their attack! Ofcourse at other times (away from asteroids/cops/FSD mod boot to 3secs jump etc.) then just chaff and redock ;)

It's all in the name of experience - seriously...
am now DEADLY COMBAT RANK and therefore I should show it.
