A way to dump/vent fuel

TL;DR - dumping a few tons of fuel extends the jump range a bit. Please, add a way to do it.

Explorers' issues... Sometimes your ship is a bit too heavy to make the next jump. Annoying when you've just scooped a Neutron star and are aiming for the next one in your route. In my current situation, I'd need to dump about 40% of my fuel tank but these new ships' SCO drives are too efficient to burn it fast.

FSD injection would normally work but unfortunately, those don't apply to Neutron Star jumps. Not even the premium synthesized ones. It's a shame because using it with a Neutron Star would be the only worthwhile use for it.
Yes, jumping one more jump would also solve the issue, but that's not fun to say the least.

What WOULD be fun is to be able to exceed the safety limits on the SCO and go at ludicrous speeds for a while, overheating, flailing around and burning tons of fuel in seconds. Just like in the old ships.

... Or just let us dump fuel or vent it. In this case, fuel getting destroyed would be just fine but it would be interesting if another ship could scoop it up in a few passes, scatter it away or destroy it with weapon fire. Limpets wouldn't work for picking it up of course.

Boost.. But this takes long.

Get a plasma slug Rails. Empty your fuel tank by firing the gun
That might work but it would mean having to ditch the Super Penetrator's 40% heat reduction. Good thinking and thanks for the advice.

I'd still like for the devs to consider implementing one of the suggested changes.

There is a current way to dump fuel. Just use SCO for several seconds (or a few minutes in the new generation ships)

Wow, didn't know about the heat reduction on Slug. Great to know, thanks.
Wait, so the fuel cost is per shot, not per clip?
Yep, no idea why it's been done that way but each shot if the three shot burst takes the same amount of fuel as a single rail gun shot.

Although if you're really impatient, you could use high capacity engineering and it'll give you 6 shots.

Idk the idea does sound very dangerous. Just thinking about dumping fuel brings back tense memories of flying without a fuel scoop and trying to find a large landing pad in unpopulated regions and there's only enough fuel for a 4-6ly jump.

Yes but back in the day I jumped into a system scooped and filled my tank and was then unable to jump anywhere because I was overweight. A lot of flying around trying to find a star I could reach when some fuel had been burned off.

Not dangerous but frustrating.

I have not had that happen... yet. lol Ya i've only got into fuel trouble when flying a corvette for bounty hunting, no fuel scoop, and chasing around "informants" that distracted from watching the fuel gauge, i blame them. 😄
