A Wing vs Single Player. Is this fair?

I don't know whether this is cheating or actually part of the game.

I was in my Asp in supercruise and came across an Imperial Clipper with a 500K bounty on him.
Lovely I thought, so I interdicted him. We had a good battle for about a minute then two of his
buddies (Anaconda and another Clipper) both with huge bounties on their heads appear from nowhere
and I've got absolutely no chance.

I am just wondering is this part of the game or is it cheating? It seems a little unfair that when I pick
a fair fight with someone they can simply summon their buddies at will and take me out.

It's not cheating, it's horrible game design.

We were supposed to be able to hire AI wing-mates... What are the chances that AI wing-mates are in the Gamescon announcement?

You can already wing with other players. The op could have arrived with help.

If you could hire npcs (hopefully this isn't too far away), so could your opponent - it would change nothing in the scenario

There is nothing unfair in this gameplay.

Just because the op has decided on his/her in-game morals and in this case, that he/she wants to play 1 v 1, that doesn't mean his prey will (or should) volunteer to play that was also).

If you want to prove your metal in a 'fair' one vs one fight sounds like CQC in 1.4 might be what you are looking for?

No such thing in existence as a "fair fight". A "fair fight" will get you killed.
I want overwhelming firepower aimed with such great precision that hits so hard on a target it erases their entire bloodline from history and all human thought.
I mean, I have this capability at home why not have it in-game as well?
