A4 Shield Gen on Cobra

This is completely subjective, but it doesn't feel like my A4 is better than my previous C4. In fact, it seems worse.

Power disty is the same (A3) and nothing else has changed.

Anyone else get this feeling? Or even, conversely, that you're sure it's an improvement?

I'll probably be doing some testing of the shield mechanics soon, if not tonight. I'll post my findings here.

I've also recently upgraded, I've survived a couple of collisions in combat that I wouldn't have with the C4, but other than that I've not really noticed a difference.

I agree with this, I just equipped it yesterday and I find myself running out of shield strength a lot more often. I thought it was just more challenging NPC's

It would be nice if more information was given, instead of a scale, provide numbers to know the actual difference of shields. Also, do better shields recharge faster? Maybe A shields have less HP but recharge slower.

I'm guessing that's the 1.5mill cr one? What about your power plant? Perhaps for an A4 shield gen to show its full potential you need to upgrade that as well?

Nah. PP doesn't do anything except to provide enough power (or not) to turn stuff on or off. Mine is also an A4.

Disty makes a big difference to shield recharge.

...but beyond that, we absolutely DO NOT KNOW what the ratings on a shield mean. Many *assume* that bigger = better, but that need not be the case.

For example, it could be (completely arbitrary numbers for illustrative purposes):

E - 80% power, 20% recharge speed, 10T mass, 1.32 power draw
D - 85% power, 25% recharge speed, 4T mass (40%), 1.76 power draw
C - 100% power, 25% recharge speed, 10T mass, 2.20 power draw
B - 120% power, 20% recharge speed, 16T mass (160%), 2.64 power draw
A - 100% power, 30% recharge speed, 10T mass, 3.08 power draw

We don't even know (afaik) if shield recharge is solely a factor of disty, or also of shield rating.

So yes, we could really do with some stats.

Your the real MVP, +1 Rep

I thought it was just me. I upgraded to the best power plant, distributor and shield generator. I had already purchased the power plant and distributor earlier, then got the generator about a week ago. I cannot tell a difference.

I feel the same about most of the upgrades to be honest. The pros/cons aren't particularly clear in a lot of cases. With weapons at least you get a little feedback, but much of the rest of the upgrades available are rather obscure in their benefit to the player.

Yea agreed, all the modules need better stats to give us some idea what the differences are.
Although better power dizzys show a clear difference in use.
