Loyal Citizens of the Empire,
Less than a week ago, we received confirmation of something which many had long since suspected: we are not alone in the galaxy. Sentient life capable of interstellar travel is out there, and closer to occupied space than we could possibly have anticipated.
In the time since First Contact was made, several of our own pilots have encountered these beings lurking in the Witchspace conduits between star systems - beings which seem to possess technological capabilities similar in nature, but far above the capacities of our own starships.
While their vessels bear evident similarities to the creatures historically known as “Thargoids,” we do not yet have any means of confirming if these are the same species of alien life that we once knew, or something altogether different. Experts from across the galaxy are hard at work analysing the evidence at hand, in the hopes of understanding more about the species before the next major encounter takes place.
For now, all we can say is that their intentions, while still unclear, appear at least for the moment to be peaceful. While pilots will experience total loss of control when encountering the alien vessel, the effects of the encounter are not permanent, and will dissipate immediately after their scanning process is complete. Despite hundreds of encounters having taken place in the vicinity of the Pleiades Nebula over the last few days, not a single one of these have resulted in death, injury or even damage to the ships of those who have glimpsed these massive alien structures in action. It appears that the creatures are searching for something, though at this point we have no clear evidence as to what that may be.
Perhaps the darkest stain on the Empire’s history dates all the way back to its founding - the eradication of sentient alien life from Achenar 6D, now know as Capitol, at the hands of the first colonists. While it is unclear if this event was the result of biological contamination of the native species, or of a wilful attempt to eradicate their population, it is a tragedy that cannot be repeated. We must learn from the mistakes of our ancestors, and seek more information about these creatures as we strive to find a way to coexist peacefully with them.
On behalf of Aisling’s Angels, I implore all pilots to refrain from performing any hostile actions against these creatures under any circumstances. Pilots searching out the alien craft should also take all relevant safety precautions to prevent potential contamination of the xenobiological structure*, and should notify their System Authority and submit a flight plan before venturing into the unknown.
Above all else I ask that everybody, be they Imperial or otherwise, take great care when seeking a close encounter of their own. Your actions may have consequences which could shape the future of humanity itself.
