Abandon your mission.

This is new to me because I've just started taking kill missions (got enough upgrades now for it not to be too hazardous). Took a mission to kill pirates in 3 systems, a total of 6. In the first system I found one USS with a clean pilot in it. When I dropped out of cruise the mission was updated telling me to abandon it for a fee and to meet someone at Edward's Hub. So I abandoned the mission and then... have no idea where Edward's Hub is (it didn't say which system).

Can I ask what the deal is with these missions? I quite like the concept by the way .

I had something similar to this when I took a three-pirate kill mission and it switched after I left the station to a three-authority kill mission. "accept new contract." Pulled it up on the mission log- sure enough kill three authority. Didn't want the Fed after me, so I aborted. It immediately shifted my in-system status from "Neutral" to "Unfriendly". But they didn't shoot at me around stations of platforms.

I took a mission to kill 2 pirates at a system that my scanner cold only detect 2 suns and no commanders at all PC or NPC's I stumbled across a USS and it contained a pilot asking me to abort the killing of pirates. So I took him up on the offer and was told to meet some one at a station in a near by system and when I landed there went to the BB and got give 809 CR, wasn't worth it as the original contract was for over 8000 CR although I would have had to find some pirates!

Note that this can sometimes occur with trade. If you are supposed to take X cargo to system Y, sometimes an NPC at a USS will ask you to take the same cargo to system Z instead, usually for an increased reward. The faction giving the original mission will like you less, and the faction of the NPC offering the new mission will like you more.

Of course, with trade missions, you're not usually bumming around USSs so it doesn't happen as often.

Ah I get it. Yes I took a hauling mission and went to a USS during the trip where I got the offer to change the delivery. I think I get it now.

Had the same thing yesterday, I abandoned the mission like it said to, the mission switched to "Collect Payment", went to the station to meet him and saw nothing on the bulletin board but the mission did list the station I got the mission from originally so I went there and collected the full reward. That one gave me over 25k and I did nothing but enter a USS in the proper system, abandon the mission like the guy said and return to collect payment.

Same thing happened with a Hunt Traders mission only that one gave just 9k. The guy asked me to abandon mission, meet him at station (he wasn't there and nothing about it on BB) so I returned and collected reward.

I don't understand why the missions ended the way they did. They really have to work on them to make them make sense. You should have seen what happened with today's Hunt Pirates mission. I posted it in the Newcomers Forum: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=80016
