aberrant shield pattern analysis

Sorry to ask, but does anybody know where I can come across these in a decent quantity? I'm currently 30 short of unlocking The Sarge and have spent way too long over the last few days looking.

Don't they come from scanning ships in supercruise? I've collected loads (and unlocked the Sarge) without ever intentionally having to look for one.

Yeah I believe they are supposed to come from "Combat oriented vessels" but I have been scanning for hours and have not seen one as of yet. I guess the rng gods are just against me.

This, I keep 30 in stock and ditch 15 or so every week. Just from scanning ships in SC.

Go to a CZ and scan the ships there. If you don't want to fight, don't select a faction. There should be plenty of vessels to scan in a high intensity zone and more will keep coming. Also make sure your Data limit does not run out!

I tried this yesterday as I needed the combat bonds for a different engineer. But It seems that the scan need to be on ships in supercruise. I've had a couple since I started this thread, It's going to take a while but I'm headed in the right direction at least :)

5 hours in Cz yesterday and the day before. Not a single aberrant scan drop.
I guess it's randomly flying around I. Supercruise next :-(

i've spent over 5 days looking for these bloody scans...tried CZ, HazRes, supercruise, Outside stations, Boom, Outbreak, War, Civil War states and I have a grand total of 3! This is more painful than finding Painite, that took me 4-5 days too!!!

I just went through the same thing. Got some in CS, but mostly in HazRes. Took for ever then its started poping. Hang in there cmdr you get them ! o7

Sorry for necroposting, but this needs to be said that these things don't drop in cz at all
ive killed about 1000 ships in cz recently and not a single abberant shield pattern dropped

(this needed to be said in case someone google this thread and then goes to cz)

I get these both in SC and in and around stations all. the. time. Wish I could transfer them to some of you needy folks, and spite the RNGods.

A few things to keep in mind:

1. Make sure your data storage is not full.
2. Persistence pays off.

I've managed to gather all of these, plus all the others:

Ram Tah: 50 units of Classified Scan Databanks - Type-7 and Type-9
Tiana Fortune: 50 units of Decoded Emission Data - (System Authority Ships, non-SLF)
The Sarge: 50 units of Aberrant Shield Pattern (System Authority Ships, non-SLF)

All while sitting on a landing pad at a station, scanning ships as they come and go.

I ground out 30 of these over the past weekend.

Any HasRes and just sit there in normal space scanning every vessel. You'll be scanned but never attacked providing you're not carrying cargo or materials.

Drop rate is small, so you may need to low wake or relog, to reinstance. I estimate I was getting one for every two instances of 12 ships, but it was lumpy RNG and this included a long streak of nothing followed by 3 sets (9 pieces) from one ship scan.

I didn't bother to record ship type or wanted, so not sure there's a pattern. I just wanted it over with :(
