im in yz ceti farming shield scans in the conflict zones and the haz rez zones, and im trying to unlock Sarge. for around 6 hours ive been trying to collect the anherrent shield patterns and nothing,, not even 1. quite a few other things, just not that... any help would be most appreciated.

I think I get most of those just by playing the game. Bounty hunting and scanning everything in SC. I don't think I'd specifically look for them. I do remember I get a lot of Untypical Scans just from bounty hunting and I can trade those up if nothing else.

I find that just targetting ships as I travel in supercruise garners a lot of data, particularly shield data.
Not a help for someone looking to farm 50 for the Sarge but just an observation.
BTW trading at 2 AECs for one ASPA is not the worst trade in the game - after all you can farm AECs.
