Ability to Hire Escorts

I would LOVE the ability to hire escorts. Even if I had to purchase the ship outright and hire a captain to pilot it, I could have combat ships protecting me from pvp'ers while i'm trading, or be in a combat ship myself with cargo escorts, or just have a small fleet of combat ships to take into a conflict zone. With a few simple commands available such as Defend me, return to me, fire at will, fire at my target, etc - Kind of like how the turrets already work - this game would be AMAZING!! It would make the trading grinds way faster/more tolerable and could make for some interesting gameplay as two "groups" of ships go at each other.

The only downside I can think of immediately is that one guy that has a small fleet of anacondas and would just p0wn face. Of course you could just outrun him, but still...

Anyways I would love it.

Sounds a good idea to me.

Of course, some would be more or less reliable than others ... you'd need a way to judge their reputation so you know the ones that will give you your money's worth against the ones that will ask to be paid in advance and then turn tail at the first whiff of pirates.
