Ability to "Pin" Missions

Two nights ago, I was in my smuggling Cobra with 32T space and came across a mission in the "Unavailable" section of the BB worth 2.2 million to smuggle 96 Imperial Slaves to a distant system. I had all of the pre-requisites for the mission (Trade rank, Allied relationship, etc.) save cargo space which was in red.

No problem, as my Python with 196T cargo was in the neighbouring system 8LY away, so I toddled off to get it. By the time I got back, seven minutes later, the mission was gone. I've also had this happen when I went into outfitting to add a cargo bay for a decent paying mission only to find it gone on my return to the Bulletin Board a minute later.

If we could pin a mission to hold it for a short time, that would help. By "pin," I mean tentatively accept it even though we don't meet all of the criteria (available cargo space). As long as that is the only thing we are missing, we should be able to pin that mission. There might be an occasion where we stop off at a station (while on a mission) with cargo holds full to find another mission in that BB. By pinning the second mission, we can take it on the way back once we have an empty hold.

To avoid abuse, on pinning, the mission countdown can begin to count down. This alone might add some excitement and urgency to getting back, especially if your Python is 125 LY away. :D Also, there can be a 10%-20% penalty if the mission counts down to 0 after pinning and not being accepted as a mission. This discourages people pinning everything they see. Want to cancel the pin, you have to go back to that station and unpin it on the BB.

Or alternatively, you need to pay 10% of the mission reward to pin it, which will be refunded on successful completion.

Yeah or nay?

I like it. It's pretty difficult to find a decent mission as it is, so pinning one until we could refit would be nice. +1 rep.

For those of us that are reasonable, and actually read the missions/requirements before accepting them, this is a great idea, provided that there is the same penalties (-rep, -$$) in place for not completing the mission no matter the reason.
However, all I foresee is constant bug reports, and "ED sucks because I took a mission that I can't complete in my cobra, etc."

I guess it makes sense that they want to be absolutely sure you can take on the mission right now and that there is a system in place to stop you taking on missions where you don't meet the criteria.
Perhaps it should be more a matter of some criteria are hard and some are soft. Though an 'available', 'not available' and 'kind of available but be sure' break down might get a bit silly. Just some sort of extra warning dialogue before acceptance perhaps?

Personally I think this should come down to being able to negotiate a bit. This would add a bit of gameplay and make things more interesting. Can tie in to your local rep and various levels. So perhaps they will let you accept a mission where you don't have some criteria right now either because they are willing to trust you and/or you are willing to accept a low profit or higher penalty and possibly exaggerated reputation effects.
This would make sense too with some of those 'acquire X of Y' type missions where you are sitting there with the stuff in your hold but can't give it too them because of local rep - being able to call them up and say "I've got it here, right now, want it?" would be neat and could again end up with some profit negotiation with various rep and level effects.

This would all be enhanced by some sort of NPC persistence of course but that's a whole other thing.
