I've been playing this game since 2017 and love this game to bits, but found it very hard to get into all aspects of it - the majority of it is something I will try "one day".
Having just got into painite mining and got to the point I could afford a python I'm now raking it in, but still remember bitterly all the times prior I died trying to dock, fit through the mailslot, attempted to get into bounties and generally aimed higher than I should have at that point. About a year of investing my time into it after starting I lost all my money from dying and just gave up in frustration. I got a HOTAS 2nd-hand (£20!!) and got back into it, building up to an ASP X which I stayed in until about a month ago, doing missions and trying to make profit from cargo runs.
I really can't believe that in the last 3 weeks I've made enough money to afford an Anaconda from mining - I wish I knew about it earlier (although part of me is glad I didn't - I find the difficulty quite alluring) I haven't bought one yet as I'm actually enjoying the game again - working my way up from where I was and experimenting with what I have.
TLDR; I have an idea to make exploring more interesting:-
Currently, and I may be alone here, I only go to places that have what I want or will buy what I have at a good price. I have not done any exploring, alien stuff, I have been in an SRV twice and gave up after dying, pirating, power play - basically nothing except missions, trade and mining. I've decided to leave all that until I have some very well kitted out ships and lots of spare cash for rebuy. I have not even ventured into open play yet as I fear loosing everything I have gained from investing my time into this game (having 2 kids and a wife mean my time playing games is very rare now).
What I would love to be able to do is this:-
1. Find an undiscovered system, or one that I like
2. Pay to build a station there (if undiscovered), or if one already exists perhaps be able to buy shares in it to take a cut of profits?
3. Choose what is available at that station, in addition to allowing trade in local commodities.
The biggest thing is (3) - being able to call somewhere home, and having it stocked up with the things you want to buy. Which leads me to..
Anyone think being able to store modules and possibly even other ships that you own in the cargo of your current ship would be useful? The way I see it is it would allow players to transport modules to stations that do not have them, allowing you to move them around - but also have the ability to sell them at the destination station.
This could then allow the module to be sold on at the station to other players (but perhaps only when a certain amount had been put into stock) and would make the trading of modules and ships quite dynamic. Prices would fluctuate a lot based on demand, but it would reflect real world markets.
Extending this would be the ability to pay someone else (or NPC) to bring items (mats, modules, ships) from one location to another (either one off or regularly) in order to setup trade routes to support the development of a base.
Thoughts?
