About 3rd person view and ship skins.

This is just a soapbox point. A number of people on this forum have derided the idea of ship customization mattering because "lol nobody sees ur ships paintjob in combat".

Not. True.

Last night as i was blowing up pirate cobras in the planetary rings of my home system i was enjoying the different colors of their ships quite a bit. i do notice. i do notice the colors and decals on ships in open flight and combat.

So there. Even without a 3rd person perspective i notice 'em.

It seems that Pirates / wanted ships have skins, but the boring station traffic does not. I am told that the Pirates have skins not available to mere mortals like me.

One thing I'd like to see, speaking of pirate skins etc, is the shop stocking Cmdr's Fleet skins. In the same way you can get a pirate scheme that is used for multiple different ship types, you could get a design that would apply to any ship type you have. I have the Green Sonoran skin for my Sidewinder, but there's no equivalent for my Hauler (there's a similar design but it doesn't come in green, which seems strange). This type of skin could also be used across groups (as long as each person pays of course<g>) in the same way other MMOs have guild tabbards.

But yes, even without an exterior view, I still prefer to have my ships skinned.

There shall be no 3rd person view except via a 'drone' that launches another 'drone' that can be operated ONLY whilst your are stationary with all input controls disconnected (also any interaction with Windows -Alt+Tabbing will also be disabled) and then thru a tiny degraded video screen somewhere in the back of the cockpit with a resolution of 320x200 (so you have to turn your head a full 360 degrees to see it) then, and only THEN shall a external view be allowed and thus maintain 'Immersion'™ ?®©

*Also only 1 angle will be allowed, determined in advance by the original 'backers', via a democratic voting process. AND YOU SHALL LIKE IT.

They have some really nice ones. Some purple/black and green/black style splatter mixes. Was very pretty to shoot at.

FD should put every single paint job on sale in their store that they've actually made. if you have the assets might as well sell 'em.

That said i want to encounter a pirate in a Canada-Flag viper.

Nice to know I have to spend $10 to further YOUR enjoyment of the ships skins. Now can you spend $50 I wanna see all the skins for python pls?

Seriously though i'd enjoy if there were some paint opens that WEREN'T sold in the game-store but if thats what FD has to do.....

To address this...

If there is a plan to make 1st person interaction where one can stand up from the pilots seat, walk out an airlock and EVA...then there is your remote camera and FD maintains 'your only view is your helmet' standard.

EDIT: But I will question why the charge extra for other painted skins where you can only view it from the outfiting window. If I pay for something, i want to be able to admire my virtual purchase.

Yeah i hear that - if i could actually exit my ship and wander around the landing pad it'd be a lot more valuable to me. Currently i consider it a fancy way to donate to FD and not a real purchase.
