Newcomer / Intro about climbing ranks in Federation..

um, hi commanders,
i have been climbing ranks in Federation

i was wondering what will happen when i travel to imperial space stations to do hauling/trading...

will my ship be destroyed by them? my status is nuetral atm

i may be rising to climb to top ranks..

Nothing. Federal and Imperial civil naval ranks are purely ornamental/honorary. You can be both king and admiral at the same time. Your reputation with local minor factions is completely unaffected (although gaining rep with one faction might make you lose rep with another faction if the mission was against that other faction).

It can be slightly different if you go for PowerPlay, i.e. pledge to one of the powers (not Fed/Imp, but people like Hudson or Duval). In that case, agents of enemy powers might try to attack you(r ship) if you show up on their turf.

Point in case: I am currently not engaging in powerplay. I am, though, Rear Admiral in the Fed auxiliary navy and (right now) Duke in the Imperial auxiliary navy. Right now, I'm flying a Federal Corvette - and doing evacuation missions form the bombed Imperial station in Paresa, collecting money and Imperial rank. The only ship thaqt attacked me was some deluded player - right on top of the rescue ship. They didn't last long after that rescue ship opened fire with its local defense lasers 😁 (to be fair, the first thing I noticed from the attack was my covas' warning about "thermal signature increased").

Those of us that fight for the Empire have sensors installed that display Fed swine ships as soon as they are detected in the same instance. Automatically these sensors notify all Imperial commanders within 139 light years (140's just a bit out of range you see). Those commanders can (and do) answer the call, to converge on your puny Fed brick, and destroy it with extreme prejudice. Can't have any of that 'round here, you know.

To sum up the replies you have received,
NPCs etc will not be bothered one way or another at this time
Some players who are into role play might be less relaxed about it

If you're in open everyone will try to kill you..... but that has nothing to do with ranks.

Welcome OP. Blue Mars is a great handle (and a great book).

Fly safe and have fun....o7!

can you share me a detail..
how i detect which is a npc ..."wanted" and a player ... "wanted"
All other players, in Open of Private Group, will have a ship blip on the scanner that is a hollow square instead of a filled square.

Also human players will have "CMDR" before their name where the NPCs only have the name.

Not sure about "wanted", but likely will need to scan ship with kill warrant scanner first.

There you go:

As for wanted or not, you'll need to scan them (i.e. select them, point your ship at them and wait for the spinny in the bottom left to finish)

What they said...............

Do not go to an engineer in open mode unless you're confident that you know how to deal with gankers. If you don't know about these things, by the time you see the hollow square or triangle, it's probably too late to save your ship and cargo.
