About Exploration and "Horizon"

Hello,
After grinding all ranks, and grinding rep and money, I've done ALL gameplay of Elite (it mean grind, cause seriously FD, there is no gameplay on your game.)

So, now I want to do the only thing Elite was conceived, that is to say look at the universe. Exploration and take screen shot for your Steam account... (because "gameplay" on exploration is left click and target planets, w00t !)
Because honestly , after all Grind and tried everything , elite is just a tourism game.

And I've buy Horizon.
After trying the " beautiful " planetary missions have found that the world trade - station was pointless I bitterly regret this purchase , especially given the price cut (or rather sold off , which are very bad sign for the confidence that FD had the future
I just wonder if there is any interest in land on planets during exploration ?
Craft in 2 hours a stuff for jump 10Al more being useless, the "fun RP" to be on a planet being nonexistent ... Did we earn more money, we had you more information? Or is it really USELESS ? And Horizon was really the worst purchase I make in my life ?

And remember, multicrew was annonced for the 1.0, and now they'll add it as a "huge" improvement on Horizon... Seriously FD.

For finish this topic, I really hope Braben will enter in the 21 century, and add conquest and colonisation to REAL alliance in game, and not "Group RP of players who only can change name to a faction", cause seriously, This game can be great, but FD refuse because of a complex with EvE...

Thanks for reading, sorry for mistakes I'm not English ;)

Elite isn't a game you play, it's a game you play in. If you can make that mental adjustment, it's one of the best games ever. If not ... not.

Hmm, interesting thoughts. Although I can't agree to any of it.

I myself very much enjoy the game. It's fantastic and pretty much what I was expecting.
I played Elite 2 and 3 a lot and loved them.

Much like the old Elites, this isn't your traditional game where you get everything served on a plate.
You make your own stories, you find things you enjoy, be it exploration or bounty hunting or who knows what else.
You make the story.

Expectations obviously vary but I think Elite is awesome as it is. I can't wait to see what other future content we might get. (I am most excited about atmospheric landings)

Again, my opinion. :)

You make the story in your head, cause there is no way to really do something. Elite actually is just a "RP in your head" game with NOTHING In. Seriously guys !

And for my real question? Landing is useless or not?

When 2.1 hits and it spawns a crafting material "gold" rush then exploration and landing on planets will become more important.

Since you have obviously already made up your mind and seem to be quite well stuck with it, i dont think theres really no point telling you "no, landing is not useless", since you wouldnt believe it anyways.

I guess it just boils down to your own creativity.

Elite is like a big open sandbox filled with various toys. To a lot of us this is more then enough to have countless hours of fun!
We explore, discover, fight and trade. We interact with each other and from there a greater story develops.
That story is our story within that universe. We make it.

Elite isn't an interactive story or adventure game that has a predefined start and end. It doesn't guide you.

Just look at Distant Worlds. You wouldn't be able to find this anywhere else.

Oh well, everyone is different which is why Elite is not for everyone.

Edit: And to your real question: No, landing is not useless. ;) You gather resources and you can craft with it. You can explore Planetary surfaces. There are Planetary bases. More to come.

Since you are specifically looking for "money" and "information" (which I am parsing as "sell-able exploration data") from landings, then the answer to your question is that landing is useless to you.

It is of great use to me, because I enjoy the hell out of it and enjoyment is the only thing I'm looking for from this game.

I really think you bought the wrong game. That's a terrible shame and I feel for you.

If Elite was just a RP game in my head, and there was nothing in it, I'd worry about my head, not the game. But that's just my head, not anybody else's.

Well, so by "answers" can we say Horizon is 100% useless (actually) for exploration?
And mean Horizon is just 100% useless for all the game?

Elite Dangerous is basicly for space ship pew pew lovers. there are masses of them and they pay the game. its obvious that frontier creates content for them. explorers are tiny marginal group, there is less than percent of us. so dont be surprised that explorig is just the same like in beta. planetary landing , which came in horizons, is added as a source of materials, which will be used for modules (understand guns and ammo) crafting. we have to convince half of ED players to explore space, and we will have new exploration content in 6 months. until then, it will be always "honk and go".

Wrong. If you want to explore parts of the galaxy that can't be reached without the extended jumps that finding the necessary materials enables, Horizons is essential. Frankly though, there is no 'use' in playing a game except as a means to obtain enjoyment. If you enjoy it, play it. If you don't, don't. Your choice.

Hand a child a blanket and they might use it to keep warm or to lay on the ground to sit.
Hand the same blanket to another child and it's a super hero cape, or a flying carpet or any of a million other things as well as being a seat and a warmth provider.

If you're the first child then you've unfortunately purchased the wrong game. The rest of us bought a future life simulator and it's awesome :D

Landing on planets and trucking around in an SRV is a lot of fun.

And I got Elite in Exploration yesterday. Landing on some planets helped me get there :)

Horizons is great for me.

No, no we cannot.

You can, but then again you have made it clear from the start that you don't like the game. I'm actually unsure why you bought the expansion to a game you don't like actually.
