General About Joystick´s button´s mapping

Just asking here, why it is so difficult get my joystick´s and throttle´s buttons mapped correctly with The Elite games. i bought a full set of Virpil controls for The best space (sim) game and now it is very annoying, because i don´t get those lovely buttons working as i will. this can´t be a big problem, with DCS´sim they woirk as dream. I am a loyal fan of Elite games (61 years old pilot)
This is only problem what i have been with Elite games. Sure my wife like´s a lot, because i am more now with her...

Anyone familiar with using Virpil grip and throttle. Elite doesn't see them.

Just got the Virpil Constellation Alpha-R grip with the Warbrd base, as well as the 50 CM2 throttle and elite doesn't see any Virpil hardware. Is there a control setting for Virpil in Elite? I know that the problem is around since a while. And there are a number of known workaround for it. So while i see how it being implemented "properly" would be nice when using that HOTAS, i also know that only Vipril users have that issue. So compared to a number of other problems the game still has, which have no known, tried and successful workaround, i guess they might be further up on the priority list.

I hope the thread i linked you helps you being able to play, as waiting for this problem to be solved might take too long.
