I was wondering. Where did Planet Zoo creators get the ideas of social (group size and bachelor) and number of offspring per mating event?

Probably from researching the animals themselves. There are actually quite a few care manuals available online, some even EAZA and AZA. There are some species though that they've added that have more limited information out there so I honestly wondered where they get those numbers.
