Newcomer / Intro About the Eagle.

Being a ship for Newcomers, let's have this here:

some background to read:
my current base of operations is in and around Tolini / Fu Xianses where I have been doing a couple of missions
for the Federation to eventually get my Sol Permit: Sol is/was 160 LYs away. To do the trip I decided to get a new Sidewinder
and outfit it for travel and some exploration along the way - the trusty Viper wasn't the right choice for long distances,
the Taxi Hauler wouldn't let me do anything once I got there and I honestly have no clue why I didn't just pick my Adder.

Now, being in Sol and having seen the sights (which are nice!) and thinking that I might as well stick around for a while
I had realised that I didn't quite have the credits to turn the Sidewinder into something good aka into something which would
let me earn some more credits. Luckily, I had bought a stupidly overpowered Fuel Scoop for the trip so I was able to liquify the
Sidewinder and its equipment for the basics of a decent Eagle (which is even donning a new Paint Job;) and with additional
credits rolling in from hunting at the NAV Beacon, I am wondering...

just what is a good Eagle setup? Initially, I went with the default Fixed Pulse Lasers plus a Gimballed MC.
Which was boring and felt tedious (like my Viper, but handicapped5). So I swapped the MC for a Rail Gun (oh yeah!)
and the Pulse Lasers Pea Shooters for Beams. But here's the problem: Power-wise, I can fire the Beam Lasers
for as long as I like - because I don't like my ship to take heat damage and heat is building up crazily fast in the current setup.
Something wrong here? Stick with it and install a Heat Sink?

So, anyone with an Eagle, weigh in, please!

I keep an eagle around for bounty hunting because sometimes I just want to fly one. I use two mc's and one beam laser, all fixed.

Just traded mine in for a Viper. Get a nice power coupling upgrade, a beam laser + another if you can bother, but a burst is fine too on a budget. Get a gimballed multi to go with it, a scanner and head for a conflict zone or nav point. The downside is that if your shields go down, you better run... The thing has very little hull strength. Really nice and easy to fly, better than the sidewinder even. Best used to keep hammering on the roof with the lasers up close and with the multi canon as soon as the shields go down. The price of an Eagle seems low at first, but you'll need about 150k more to outfit it right. Adding a railgun without having a premium generator / coupling is probably not a great idea, the thing has a little bit better heat dissipation than the Viper, but not that much better. In essence it is a faster smaller Viper it seems. But it indeed gets a bit tedious to take down targets with a lot of hull / shields, since you only have 3 hardpoints. Not horrible, but not great. But it is a pleasure to fly. I get how it is a beginners ship balance wise.
