About the New Ship Voice...

Aside from letting us hear it, they really didn't tell us much about this new featurette.

I'm going out on a limb and going to guess it's a configurable option... at least I hope it is, because I didn't particularly like it.

It gives that "I need an adult" sort of feeling.

My prediction: Voices will be sold separately on the FD store - monetized, like paint jobs and so on.

I was hoping for a variety of voices, both male and female. I wouldn’t mind my ship voice having an American accent, personally.

It might actually be medically viable if a player with hearing problems cannot hear the current frequency of the ship voice. Maybe a male lower frequency voice would resolve this. Not just old people either. Probably a few 'heavy-metal heads' out there who will like this! :)

Didn't Victor have an American accent? If that was a UK accent, it was a lot lighter than Verity's.

Lets face it, Voice Attack and the HCS voice packs > Stock ship voice(Verity)/Interaction. It was only a matter of time before FD partnered with VA, or took just inspiration from VA/HCS packs. I use Captain Kirk and Celeste in a multi-crew config (Kirk as my 1st officer, Celeste on everything else) in my ships; way, way better. I don't think I have Verity voice anything anymore, it's all VA/HCS

If the price is reasonable, the voice acting good, or entertaining, or preferably both, I wouldn't be opposed to buying one.

I certainly wouldn't mind a nice, sultry gaelic accent.

You're right. I don't have any problem hearing the lovely Verity but it's only due to luck because I have exactly the hearing problem you described, her voice just happens to sit in the frequency ranges that I can hear fine.

For next year's Special Effect charity livestream they should offer a Braben voicepack, pretty sure some Commanders would bankrupt themselves to bid for that. :D

Am I the only one who turned the computer voice off?

Find it endlessly annoying watching a combat video or something and 90% of it is FLIGHT ASSIST ON FLIGHT ASSIST OFF FLIGHT ASSIST ON WARNING IMPULSE ATTACK

I've turned off a few things (like the Flight Assist you mention) but still do keep many of them on.

Oh, I turned it off a year ago. Long-distance travel seems a little shorter when each jump isn’t gated by repetitive dialogue.

That being said, I’d turn it back on again if they added more female voices with different accents.

It is configurable.
From what I understood this is even configurable on a per ship basis.
I like the male voice. I would use it for my male ships :).
