About the shield nerf

Well if that's all that's getting the nerf, I will sign off gladly. I thought they were at basic missions again. I stand corrected cmdr.

That and planetary scan missions, you can stack 3 at most with the nerf. They have said they will increase the payout to compensate but we have no idea how much they will increase.

Try fitting two 60% mrps and a auto field maintenance unit. The amount of protection is actually massive (dont remeber how exactly they stack but something over 80%). If one goes down you repair it. If your powerplant still goes down to a small ship, which does pathetic damage to you, then he must have been a godly pilot.

And just another point: The larger ship always has the advantage of beeing able to wake out with no penalties, so dont stay if you are worried about the outcome of a fihgt.

Please try to be serious when/if you reply to this.

Can we please stop nerfing the big ships, the big 3 need big shields to be competitive in PVE and PVP, if you do nerf the shields you need to make the big 3 able to hit fa off orbiting small and medium ships taking away your nerfed shields in seconds.

Before you think i am over exaggerating, currently a properly engineered ship can strip away a big ships shield pretty fast already.

You might say ''but they are adding hull hardness'' think about all the anti module weapons out there and then think about all the anti shield weapons out there. There are hard counters to big ships with big shields as the game is currently, and nerfing the shields on top of this will make them large flying rebuy screens waiting to happen.

There will be zero reason for flying anything above a FDL because you can actually dodge something in that class of ship.

I see your point but I would need to see proper statistics on say too top engineered Vultures vs one top engineered cutter/corvette when all pilots are highly skilled.
If that would indicate the vultures have the upper hand then do not nerf, otherwise do nerf.

Also gets more complex when you factor in multi-crew, so maybe that is why they are doing it ?

wait a min... i thought the whole point was to keep people in fights longer?? contradictions all round, now your saying run away to reboot. uhm. AND the added resistances are TOTAL garbage - once our shields are down everyones gonna turn into chris kyle sniping power plants for the quick boom without hull damage.

If you go into winged PvP fights you see Cutters and Corvettes low waking and coming back 5 secs later with aid of wing beacons all the time. They do this to avoid being interrupted while they fire up their SCBs. Just waking doesn't automatically mean you're bailing from the fight altogether, it's more like a one step backwards, two step forwards thing.

Also I was referring to shield resistances, and I really couldn't care less about hull resistances since I'd high wake the moment my shields are down, there's no arguing about that.

From my perspective, I've worked a long time towards having the big three with engineered shields, and I don't want Frontier messing with them. The drawback of flying a big, expensive ship is that if it dies, you get a giant rebuy bill. They also tend to be easy to hit and less maneuverable than their smaller counterparts, so they need those shields to stay alive. So, they were much harder to hurt, but when they died it cost you more. They are easier to hit, but have a lot more hitpoints. That is balanced. But by all means, let's make them useless in open because a bunch of pvp-ers want their fights to be shorter.

If the shields get nerfed as proposed, why would anyone fly a corvette or a cutter in Open? Shields will go down much quicker now, and before someone says "but tougher hulls", hull tanking isn't that great in this game and players have loads of options to get around the fact you have lots of armor once your shields are down. This nerf will make the expensive, end game ships useless in open. So, why do this? 99% of PvP-ers play FDL's already. So they've been complaining their fights last too long, and naturally in comes FD, charging to help the only part of the community to pay attention to, without considering how this will impact everyone else. This whole idea of "we want small ships to be competitive too" has been taken to ridiculous extremes - a 10 million build is not supposed to be competitive with a 900 million one. If that's not the case, congratulations, you just eliminated the primary driver a lot of people have for playing this game - getting the bigger, badder, more expensive ships. Why bother?

Also, this game is starting to suffer from the "too much tinkering" syndrome. I'm getting really, really tired of having to re-engineer my entire fleet because FDev "rebalanced" (read: acted entirely reactionary to whining of a few people on the boards) things yet again. To the point where I can't even be bothered anymore. Heat is good, heat is bad, let's reroll. Incindiary good, incindiary nerfed. Corrosive very effective, corrosive less effective. Cascade rails pretty much mandatory in pvp, cascade rails not that great anymore unless used with hammers. And now, shield booster stacking, guess what, you engineered all of those boosters for nothing and your cutter's rebuy bill of 45 mil will now preclude you from taking it out in open ever again. This is not a good way to do business.

I disagree about never being able to take it down, they should have a chance at least if we ignore personal skill. I do agree about them not being able nuke the big ship to pieces in the first round of volleys.

Totally disagree with this. Historical parallel is that the FDL is the equivalent of the torpedo boats; heavily armed and fast and able to take down the battleships and cruisers of the day - they were only countered by (torpedo boat) destroyers - specialist ships that were large, fast and had lots of rapid fire weapons.

Stop Nerfing and let us play the game. Too much re-balancing is done, some ships will be better than others - the FDL is a specialist ship, and its rubbish for anything but hunting large ships; thats is purpose.

I love the game, but seriously devs? stop screwing it up for everyone doing this like this. getting tired ever single update having to completely re configure ship parts, re engineer the ship and find a completely new play style. if this is because some players have rediculously strong shields, so what? you nerf them some players will STILL have stronger shields by comparison, but look what happens to everyone else? picked apart by cheeper ships. why not just remove all the large ships from the game. give us only 3 options. EAGLE, HAULER, or SIDEWINDER. no other options than that. or how about stop nerfing everything every update? Been playing sense before the game officially launched, it's been a roller coaster ride. it's gotten great, then it all starts going downhill, gets better, goes even further downhill, gets a little better. now it's hardly even worth playing anymore.
