If you use the store via Steam its craptastic and requires steam funds so I alt tab and use their original storefront thus bypassing Steam. Their own store has better images too.

big or small the pictures don't usually show the real thing very well, specially with paintjobs. a quick youtube search will give you a better idea, seeing the thing in context and with different lightings. i failed to do that for my first 3-4 paintjobs and was a bit disappointed ...

When I mouse over the picture selected it will zoom for me, giving a good look. Does that work for others?

That said, I am sure there is a lot of room for improvement to illustrate these skins/packs etc in more detail.

While the pictures are OK, there really should be a better way to preview the paintjobs. How hard would it be for this to be in-game? You could at least see what the paint job does to other angles as well as the fine details. Same for the ship kits.
