About this exploring business

That's what Jaques Station and the Community Event are for. Jaques will be wandering around the galaxy where it can be used as a home base for explorers. The other station currently being built in the Community Event will also be sent out into deep space to act as a pitstop for explorers.

Selling your data to Universal Cartographics should flag a system (or at least those bodies in it that were scanned) as explored to everyone who visits later. It's common sense to me.

I shouldn't get paid for discovering something some else has already discovered and submitted.
Yes, but it may be that UC is looking for aggregate data - multiple submissions for each system before it is _truly_ explored. It would make sense, then, to wait until 3-5 people have sold data on a system before the data becomes available for sale.

Not sure if any such system is in place, though. I only know that the first one gets a hefty bonus.

There seems to be a specific area (habited systems) that it is almost impossible to find an unfound system. But I do not see the point in travelling into deep space to search then having to come back to the area with habitable systems. There should be stations scattered throughout the galaxy so you can sell data, repair etc.
I may be missing something here but once i venture outside the area with allied systems there seems to be no life. Are they saving the other side of galaxy for players in a thousand years or something? :p
The 3rd generation hyperdrives have only been out for a couple of decades. Humanity has not had time to spread out yet. The game depicts the events of a new era of expansion and exploration with the help of new technological advances.
