About to start the return leg on my first foray...where to sell

hello guys

So im 1,000 scans out, and will do the same coming back i expect. Im just wondering what the best option is for selling. Ive been out in deep space for about 4 weeks, took a break during 1.3 roll out. Im in no rush to get back but would like some advice on what to do with the data, where to sell it and why etc. I havnt really researched it. Im mainly Empire aligned.

Appreciate any advice you can give.

Check out the Community Goal sticky.
There's a discovery goal on at the moment, sign up before you sell!

You get the normal payments, plus a bonus depending on your number of scans sold.

Be careful going in to community goal systems with a shipload of data. You may have to dodge PVPers and you wouldn't want to lose all your hard work before you can cash it in. I'd sell at the first station you see. Good luck.

Yeah, I can advise the Exploration Escort thread, get yourself some backup when coming in :)

Alternatively check out the permit thread and try to sell at the stations that will get you allied and get you the independent permits.

Or just fly to the CG home in solo mode :D not quite sure what the stigma is when it comes to solo. It's a tool that boosts your safety immensely. Use it! NPC interdictions are a non-issue.

I use the same rule as when driving IRL - until proven otherwise always assume everyone else is an idiot behind the wheel or a vindictive maniac. If you can avoid them, do.

Plus I think it behooves us who can to take part in this CG and shoe frontier that exploration CGs are wanted. Or at the very least show that the exploration community is active and dynamic in-game.

I selfishly say sell it in at the Community Goal in Lembava just to boost us above Tier 5! :D

Again, highlight you need to sign up for the Community Goal on the Bulletin Board in system prior to selling data.

Hand your data in at the systems listed here ..

Hand it in in chunks of around 10 pages and/or 5 million credits worth (not at all sure of exact amounts) at a time, until you get the Bulletin Board option to obtain a permit for the nearby system. Get the permit and then move on to the next system. In this way your exploration data can be effectively used to buy permits. You won't get as much cash as you would if you simply handed it all in for the aforementioned community goal (thereby qualifying for a higher tier CG reward) but then you can't buy permits with cash.

I'd suggest a combination of what Alec Turner said, along with what most others are saying.

Visit some of the systems Alec linked to and sell a few pages at each to get your permit mission. I did that to get Alioth and Phekda permits.
Then head to Goldstein Station at Lembava, sign on to the community goal on the Bulletin board and start selling your data in bulk.

The CG is about to break Tier 5, and it was around 700 system reports to get to the highest band a couple of days ago.

Im going to suggest selling at Lembava for the CG too. Even if you turn right around and go back out, the permits will be here when you get back (theoretically) the CG will not.
Its my firm belief we need to pack this CG with as much as we can to show frontier were serious about it, and your data would honestly make a difference to that effort.
If you are concerned about security inside the bubble (it's probably good to be concerned) ask over in the escort request thread (link in sig) or fly in in solo very carefully.

It's a free galaxy though, do as thou wilt.

Solo or private and you don't need to worry about potential griefers. Or of course, arrange an escort if you only do solo.

But as to where to sell the CG, I'd second what others have said about the CG. I'd do it there to help boost the exploration CG. The more done with it, hopefully the more we get like this in the future.

Regarding the CG, it only matters the amount of systems you turn in not how much they are worth right? So i could use the worthy systems to gain reputation with a faction? (if the worth matters in that case?)
