Its also Darwin Day today. Charles's 206th birthday. Wish I had a Darwin fish evolve sticker for the front of my cobra. I'd love showing that off.

As far as the quote, I think it's a mistake to judge the man by the standards of today. By the standards of his time he was progressive and acted to improve things. Not to mention, that the things one says to get elected the US President - especially in slave-holding Charleston, South Carolina in 1858 -do not necessarily have to be the things one actually believes.
