The Drabbles for this week

-----------------------------------------------------

1 - Phong : Ready when you are,Mr.de Kow

The cantina had all the old-world charm of a Mos-Eisley watering hole.Taking a vacant booth with a clear view of the entrance,Quimby sat nursing his drink in the gloom, and waited for the show to begin. The lights dimmed and then a curiously conmforting orange-yellow glow radiated from the stage, accompanied by hums ,clicks and whistles, beeps and the faint hiss of static before settling into the melifluous tones of postman pat.Soon the refrain was taken up by the audience, singing ever more lustily, and by the end there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

---------------------------------

2 - Listeri69 : Can anyone lend me some weller, i'm in a bit of a Jam....

A Fer-de-lance and an interdiction
A Hundred bullets and a failing shield bank
Lasers pounding and the missiles flying
The smell of death and a dashboard fizzing..

That's entertainment, That's entertainment...

A cockpit broken and a rumble of boost
An airless world in an infinite vacuum
Blood splatted chairs and the scream of a railgun
fighters are out and a hole in the hull..

That's entertainment, That's Entertainment...

A hit of speed and a well placed drag-mine
hit the cannons and it feels like playtime
Watching the damage and feel clandestine
Another one down and yet another begins...

That's entertainment...

--------------------------

3 - Frank : Most Sincerely Folks

Jamie Vann had been on our holo-telly for decades and decades. The anti-ageing drugs were amazing but they couldn't work miracles. The last in a long series of cosmetic procedures had gone disastrously wrong.

Jamie sat there stone-faced as his doctor gave him his options. He agreed on one last operation.

The curtain raised on his famous show, "Doggy Do Numberwang". After his zany celebrity guests were introduced he ran onto his podium to face the audience, ready to do his monologue.

As the crowd cheered and clapped he thumbed a button in his pocket to switch on his smile.

---------------------------

4 - moose666 : Waypoint, scoop, pens? (with apologies to Tim Vine)

It was talent night at the Thargoid and Fer-de-lance, and Simoof was on stage.
He was holding a bunch of pens
"Cue the music" he said
The music went thusly:

Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear
Pen behind the ear, Penbehindtheear!

5 - RoyalHankey : That's Entertainment

In the past we have all sorts of people in entertainment.
Action Entertainment with Brad Pitt, Lee Majors and even Arnie.
We had comedy with Les Dawson, Benny Hill and the Two Ronnies.
Drama with Crossroads, Coronation Street and Eastenders
Action Comedy with Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Kirk Douglas.
Famous female actors Kiera Knightly, Kate Beckinsale and Lynsey Wagner.
All gave us great entertainment, but what have we got today?
Psykokow, Simon Winnard, Frank, Moose666, Simoof, Kerrash, Firey Toad.
And we all cant forget the great ranting Mahddogg.
So what do you get with all these stars. Great Entertainment.

This is Legolas
This is a Lego Lass
This is a legless Legolas
This is a legless Lego lass

This is Legolas's lass
This is Legolas's lass's legs

7 - Cmdr Sir Samuel Vimes : The Galaxy mourns the passing of another showbiz shtar

It was time for the annual Hutton talent show

Psykokow did impressions in different accents

Frank simply came on and waved, everyone was pleased to see him alive and he got a huge cheer

Winnard sung the postman pat song but Hanky got booed off stage after just 2 words of his poem

Finally it was Simoof's turn demonstrating how to light your own farts. The crowd found it highly entertaining when poor muscle control ended up causing internal combustion and Simoof to breathe fire.

Sadly roasting your own internal organs proved fatal so this years winner was declared posthumously.

---------------------------------------------------

9 - anacondagirl : A Killer Sport....

They used to call it entertainment. Well it used to be entertainment for sure.
Until people got hurt, someone always ends up getting hurt.
When someone gets hurt the fun stops, it's not entertainment anymore.
It's so sad. I'd rush out of my job and sprint to the transport hub to get a front row seat
I would marvel at the dexterity of the participants, and watch in awe as they tackled each other
That's until someone got hurt. Now I no longer sprint, I amble but yet i still yearn for it.
Bring back the ultimate tickling championships NOW!

8 - It's not a dog's life afterall.

Commander Jon looked uncomfortable. He was getting very strange looks in the emergency room.

After he got this fixed his AI was getting uninstalled. He would also need a new dog, Mr Tainment his previous dog probably would not survive this procedure.

All he had wanted was to catch up on the latest episode of the Expanse, Season 2002 was shaping up very nicely.

Instead he got a rerun of "Hutton might have Talent". That show had been proven to cause cancer.

"What the hell is this rubbish?"
His AI replied - "This is what you requested - entertainment"
"Entertainment? My rse"

I know we were a bit light on entries this week and mysteriously the poll does not include Simoof but there have only been 11 votes so far and 3 of them were mine.

My votes didnt show up in the results screen after submitting, I assumed it was a delay but could be some kind of issue with the poll? For reference I voted for 1, 3, and 7 this week. I'm not sure how to check current results without voting again so cant see if the votes eventually went through or not.

To see the result, use the link at the top of this page. But it looks like a convicing win for Sir Samuel Vimes,so well done Sir Samuel. For some reason only 1 of my votes was recorded, but it would not have affected the final outcome, unless there was a late rally.
