Lol. Immersion is a key feature of ED. I'm glad they added the option to disable super-cruise orbit lines.

I think I understand what the op is saying. I was actually complaining to my friend about this during lunch; where folks complain about a bug or feature in the game they don't like and justify it by simply saying its immersion breaking when it is something very mundane.
I reserve the use of the term to VR and as said above, my presence in the game.
Complaining about the speed of supercruise is not an example of breaking immersion.
Extreme pixilation or flickering shadows on one eye on the occulus breaks immersion.
Seeing a misplaced decal on a replica aircraft does not break immersion.
Having your head stuck on a swivel with no camera translation will definitely break immersion.

Watching an NPC Lakon wedge itself vertically in the Coriolis entry slot, trapping me inside unless I save and quit breaks my immersion. They should stop doing that and have their licenses revoked.

Personally I think the folks complaining simply haven't allowed themselves to be fully engrossed by the presence and ambiance involved. If they were to concentrate more on the absorbing detail and paid less attention to the minor things, they would be far more likely to be enthralled by the immersive environment.
