Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences: Elite nominated Outstanding Achievement in Online Gameplay

I was wasn't sure whether to vote this year, so I decided to check whether Elite was nominated for anything. Annoyingly, it hasn't been nominated in the categories where I think it most significantly broke new ground, but it has been nominated in the Online Gameplay category.

Well...
Of all the things I really think ED should be nominated for, ''Online Gameplay'' is pretty far down the list...
Still, nice!

Can't see them winning that one. Graphics are good, the procedural stuff (while being somewhat bland) is huge in scope, and the audio is great. Things having to do with those I think Elite can do very well in. Online play though? Right now there isn't even much of a reason to even be an online game except for DRM and it has almost no online tools or features. I'm not right in the core, so I haven't even seen or spoken to a single player in the game since beta ended. The game is a technical achievement, but the online component is worse than computer games from the late 90s.

Best not to ask why. I had a popular off-topic thread moved to a gaming section then closed down for going off-topic. They are a powerful mystery. Just submit to their will.
