Accelerating the Repair of Damaged Stations

Esteemed Devs:

Current damage incurred by the stations from Thargoid attacks needs an industrial-level response.

This is not available under current conditions which are relying nearly entirely on a home/small business scale for the transportation of goods.

To counter this obstacle, CMDR's could bring needed materials to stations within the bubble, speeding up the response. Transport vessels (already in-game, same ones that are capable of transporting ships) would pick up the cargo when a set level has been reached to be forwarded to the damaged stations.

Offer a value for the repair materials that induces participation.

Other factors could be put in place, possibly a competition for total tonnage transported to station by CMDR, faction, wing, etc.

Game-play, IMHO, would be stimulated under such a scheme.

Sincerely,

CMDR El_Capitan17

In addition, CMDRs *lose* money for some station repair goods. E.g. buying Superconductors at standard market price and selling them at The Oracle will cause a loss of 200 credits per ton sold. At the very least, a demand of 999,999 for each supply good required for the repairs should have a price significantly over the average so people won't have to actually pay to repair the stations, in addition to spending weeks or months of their time.

I had an idea a short while back for a new device called an "Ionic Coupler" basically this game's version of a tractor beam. One thing that came out of this idea that's applicable to your idea was a new mission type called "Construction Hauling." Here various pieces for a new station are being prefabricated at an alternate site and they need you to haul it to the new station.
