Acceptance: I've been playing the game wrongly – not enough onion head.

Sorry should have quoted

"being a traitorous shill for various allegiances"

Which I took as ranking up super powers just for engineers
Ah, okay. Well, you know, these are the times we live in, and Frontier has seemingly turned a blind eye to it intentionally through indifference. Sad to say, but the meta is what it is.

As of now I still have no ranks in this regard, not even access to Sol.

Yeah, I know, I couldn't not say though.
Anyway don't let me side track the actually discussion

I read that 3 boosters is the max the fourth is not really doing much for you but draining your power, haven't run the numbers myself but it looked sound.
You may need a heat sink in it's place.

All good. We've been going off a bit on ship builds, which is cool and naturally I appreciate and am interested in, though it is a bit of a tangent from the OP.

Cheers.

Some quite nice looking numbers there. Thanks. :D

Perhaps slightly more combat focused than what I was thinking of before, being somewhat more exploration focused regarding heat and whatnot and using the AFMU just as a secondary backup, but overall makes sense, and of course the numbers are better.

Keep in mind that this is just what I've inferred from the numbers, as I don't have most of this Engineered in the game yet. For example, I'm not sure how well the effects of those Dirty Drag Drive thrusters will do jumping in through close binary stars and perhaps being dropped into normal space in their exclusion zones. Could perhaps add in heat sinks, but I normally don't have to bother with them nor even the AFMU, for that matter. I currently just have it as an emergency backup sort of thing.

Cheers.

Buy another Vulture hull, try building it in a different way, with dirty drives, reactive armour or whatever and do some testing. You might not prefer everything, the stuff you like you can transfer to the Ronin. I bought a second Corvette hull a while back (the Wayward Wanderer is legacy engineered), built it up & while I still use the old one for local patrols 'number two' (named in honour of the 3.3 update) ended up better in every way for armed exploration.

Over the weekend I jumped back into a Vulture for the first time in over a year and fitted it out similarly to the first loadout you provided. It is a nice ship to travel in, and with the extra class 1 modules pretty versatile too. I was surprised you didn't have an SRV fitted :) I struggled with power management though & ended up disabling the cargo hatch, only enabling it when I wanted to collect mats. Waiting for the FSD to power up is something I haven't had to do for a while, and the shield consumes a lot of the available power. You make it work though ;)
