CQC Accessing CQC from INSIDE OPEN PLAY

Everyone,

Elite Vet here. I thought I recalled FD mentioning that they wanted us to be able to join CQC from anywhere in the universe so we could que while out in space.

I was really looking forward to doing some exploring or trading while queing every few jumps to change things up.

Weren't we supposed to be able to access a CQC match from INSIDE OPEN play? I don't want to have to SWAP every time.

Thoughts?

I think what it means we can be a explorer but if you want you can go to game Menu then join cqc. With out affecting your game.

You really want to go and play CQC while your ship is hanging around in Open? If you decide to take a leak, eat dinner, or go answer the door do you leave your ship hanging around in Open? Even in Solo that's not a good idea.

If you expected it to happen while docked then that's slightly different but then explorers couldn't play when they felt like it.

Would make sense of having that irritating CQC ranking in the game if you could actually access CQC from within Elite, you know, like it was part of the same game or something....

It makes sense that its there either way.

I dare say we'll end up with Roller coaster one in there too when that game is finished, i'm unsure why we dont have a ranking for the tutorial missions in there though, i completed those missions over a year ago so should have Elite tutorial pilot ranking.

The game modes use different architecture, and need to cater for PC's of different performance.

What happens when you're in queue, do you keep playing in Solo until you can 'jump in' ? What happens if you're in combat?

How would you outfit your ship? Do you have to wait for people with peasant computers to re-cache the CQC related resources?

I can see what you mean, but it's not like WoW with the Dunegon/Raid/Battlefield finder (Although it would be awesome if it was)

It seems people don't think about that. We could hear it now. I lost My Anaconda crying because I was queue in cqc. Or I Entered cqc to op out of a battle I was about to lose to.

It's really not difficult, you put access to CQC on the station services list, thus your ship is safely docked while you play, personally i believe if you have decided to go out exploring then you chose to leave combat and contact with other players so it's tough if you can't access it.

However if you happen to disagree with that point it's really not required that CQC be removed from the main menu as well, the access from within a station could be in addition to not instead of the external menu access.

We could be offered a different skin or some other small bonus from accessing the game from within a space station to encourage CQC players into the game but they could still just log in and go straight to the game terminal almost as easily as if they used the main menu.

This is my main gripe with FD, I disagree about CQC being made at all, but why the hell didn't they at least add the option into the main game so that it feels like part of the Elite galaxy instead of some tacked on arena game very few people want to play???

Very simple. It would be daft as it would effectively need to log you out of one game mode to log you into another. They already gave you the option in exactly the same menu as you have always had. You might as well just complain that exiting the game should be restricted to the station menu as it is immersion breaking having to go to a different screen to leave. All those idiotic explorers can just put up with the fact that they are never allowed to exit the game.

Also, please point to the 'very few people want to play' stats.

No it wouldn't need to log you out of anything, it would just need to load you into the CQC main screen, you would still be using the same commander and same account so no logging out needed.

As for stats you know i don't have those and are just trying to appear clever to save having to make a reasoned argument.

Just look at all the threads on here about CQC, many of them are players not being able to find matches due to lack of other players, also in a straw poll of the players in my gaming guild (over 80) so far of those who play Elite Dangerous, 0% play or are interested in CQC although some expressed an interest (me included) if it ever gets properly integrated into the main game.

You're welcome to check out the gaming guild and verify this yourself, started out as a large group of World of Tanks clans who got together on a TeamSpeak server provided by my clan pop onto the TS server and ask them yourself.

NO, you said not many people want to play it. You make the statement, you provide the facts. Fine you have someone to straw poll but they are already a like-minded group. People having problems post on the forum. People not having problems tend not to.

So far with a few exceptions I have not struggled to find a game. I play during UK peak times. Now, if FD published the stats as I've suggested and even have a running poll on, we would know for certain how many people like to play it rather than people like you making sweeping statements and then self-justifying it. Straw poll in my office = 100% like to play it. Two of us in today and we both play. Lies, damn lies and statistics!

One thing is certain. You don't like CQC. You pick one aspect that is the same as all other play modes such as Open, Solo, and Private group and use that as your justification. You are happy to try to exclude ALL explorers from CQC just so you can justify your hatred of a single icon in your stats panel.

Sure it would be more seamless if they put it in the station menus, but the end result would be the same and they should still make it available to explorers via the normal game menu.
