Accidental accident research

Leaving dock on yet another round trip in the space cow I did some accidental research tonight. Research those of you boosting into dock may want to note. In the incident in question the following data was collected;

Accident report: Azeban dock // Eranin local

Ship 1: Lakon Type 9 (Fully loaded)
Heading and speed at time of accident: Slowly trundling out of dock.

Ship 2: DeLacy Sidewinder Mk.1 (Unladen)
Heading and speed at time of accident: Entering dock at extreme speed, possibly boosted. Pilot and flight recorder not presently available.

Results encountered by Sidewinder: Instant annihilation.

Results encountered by Lakon Type 9: About half of the first ring of shield was temporarily depleted. Most vexing!

The bigger ships lack the ability to dodge out of the way of smaller ones, therefore it behooves the pilot of the smaller vessel in an encounter to take appropriate avoiding action.

Thank you for publishing that most enlightening research on how the Lakon Type 9 (aka Space Cow) interacts with smaller, less observant, vessels. From this I deduce the following:

1: I no longer need to worry about minor collisions causing nasty scratches to my Space Cow. :)

2: I can cause pirates a need for a change of underwear when I boost straight for them whilst screaming Ramming Speed! over the com :D

3: I can avoid incurring a "Wanted" status while murdering all and sundry . I mean ahem.. involving inadvertent, totally unavoidable, completely accidental collisions. (stop looking at me like that)

4: ....and so avoid being chased by any chancer wither a pop gun hunting me for a Cr100 reward while I cross my fingers and hope they can't hit the broad side of Space Cow with gimballed pulse laser :p

I hope your continued observations of the Space Cow yield further interesting results.

Ha ha ha,

It will be funny and interesting if FD adds space lawyers and insurance adjusters to the NPC list with appropriate "missions" and "events" generated.

So, what would happen if a Space Cow were to 'hug' a Space Arrow (aka Anaconda)?

Would that be a case of Unstoppable Force meets Immovable Object?

When flying a space cow, it is recommended to undergo maintenance every 200 LY in order to scrape off all sidewinders stuck to the hull. This enables optimum structural integrity and can increase your ship's lifetime by 50%.

Would the OP like to confirm my considered opinion that all space cows only have a single direction, that being straight at me whilst making feeble attempts to change direction whilst the pilot kicks back with a can of beer, shrugging his shoulders and messaging 'Meh...'.

It's amazing just how many of those **** things end up heading towards me at speed. It's almost as though as I'm some kind of Space Bull.

P.S. My new handle.
