Accidental friendly fire fix

It's a combination of things really. Use of the radar and watching where other ships are flying, accuracy of aim, your own ship's movement, using hitscan vs projectile weapons at the right time. Of course if this is all too difficult then we can just ask for the game to be made easier.

That elitism, it seeps.
I've had a bunch of friendly npc ships friendly-shoot me in a friendly way, they kept on fine.
Why should i be punished when a npc gets into my crosshairs? Is my reaction time supposed to be greater than that of a server instanced bot?

Common sense, practice it.

I agree that the rules should be equal for everyone, NPC's included. But I just think they should have our rules, not that we should have theirs.

Agree wih OP in that it's down to the pilot to have situational awareness ... but wish the response was less of a PITA. Hauling back to a station to hand over 200 credits ain't the most fun I ever had. On the spot fines anyone?

And there was my thinking I was a bit sad for exercising trigger discipline in a game, when I haven't actually needed to do it in a very long time.

Trigger discipline. Learn it.

Nah. That's too difficult, takes too much time and it's not fun!

Way easier to make loud whiney FSD like noises and FD will fix it asap. Just like how we got them to fix docking, interdiction and "kill stealing" recently.

I'm in the camp of just don't shoot friendlies but there is a problem:

Federal fighter gets in the way of my lasers, ka-ching, cr 200
Federal fighter targets me, my turret responds, ka-ching, cr 200
no, no,no ahh what is... ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching, ...

-_-

Yes not just the fine the cops are shooting you to pieces after you killed the pirates for them so you have huge repair bill too!

Everyone will side with the OP until it happens to them :D

Had it happen to me the first time yesterday after always being on the OP's side in the past.
The ship flew across me so fast that by the time I let off the trigger he was already off the screen.

I actually think the fix is not to stop you earning fines for doing it, but have the AI not fly into a hail of laser fire like complete idiots ;)
Having said that I doubt I'll be that unlucky again for some time.

Now that we are in the post release phase it would be worth doing a poll to see what the consensus is. (I'm just an ideas man and I'm too lazy to set it up.)

I maintain that there should be some leeway when it comes to infractions. Perhaps something similar to the yellow card system in football (that's soccer to all you Yanks). Then again in a universe where loitering = death perhaps Frontier are only being consistently harsh.

Bleating on about "making the game easier" every time a potentially bad design comes up does not look like someone who's considering whether the complaint has any merit or not (I'd be all for making some things harder). I doubt (well, hope), that no-one wants to go blazing away without caring who they might hit but a tiny pat on the shields of some NPC moron who has wandered into the line of fire isn't that.
