Accurate ship scale, modeling and comparison list.

All props to the guy that did the hard work. Just reposting, have in mind that the models are derived from the game files.

The actual models are not only in perfect proportional scale, but also in good absolute scale. For example, this picture is from the Eagles' rear door using a 6 feet human model.

Here are the derived dimensions for all playable ships, ordered by length. Have in mind that those figures are not 100% accurate, since the models are missing some parts.

Images showing ok here.

@Op - Amazing when you realize the T7's is longer and higher than the A380. 72m Long Vs the T7 at 82. Conda is a mind blowing 152m :)

Glad I wasn't losing my mind when I compared the Eagle in size to an A320, VR really does help to judge the size of these monsters

Excellent work CMDR.

I'm glad someone has had the time and effort to complete this task. I myself spend all my spare time grinding cash in the game. If I was doing a task like this for hours, I would be telling myself "how many millions would I be making in Elite with my time" and give up.

My respect for your hard work. Well done again.

Cool info, OP.

I thought the FdL was smaller, but it seems to be almost the Same size of the Python!

+rep!

Very cool, thanks a lot!

The thing that surprises me is how small the Python is relative to the Anaconda - IIRC the Python is 350t, the Conda 400t. How is the Python so heavy, is it made out of lead? (Certainly feels that way when you fly it! ;) )

Wow, really? I didn't realize that. How cool. Props for the post, and to whoever did the digging, and modeling.

Should I ask?

Where will the Diamondback and Courier fit on this?!

Great work :)

Wow, the videos really show the scale of the ships. We need something even bigger than the Anaconda, wasn´t there talk about a Federation Corvette :)

Orca compares favourably with the A380 also

Orca is getting into cruise ship territory :D I have always thought that it slightly breaks immersion when you consider the sheer size of these ships. Clippers wingspan is near the equivalent of two 747's next to each other - 120 metres, that is enormous, yet it handles like a fighter.

Yep, was reminded of the Clipper's wingspan in an, ahem, unfortunate incident last night when I boosted out of a station and rolled a little early on to an almost dead-on hyperspace target whilst still in the toast rack - boom. Thinking of the sizes shown here, it would have been an utterly cataclysmic and hilarious accident to witness. Shame there were no commanders about ;)
.
edit: just noticed the London bus there :)

I remember doing some measurement and thinking the Cobra would fit neatly in a baseball field.

I really hope that if the first person expansion does indeed come out that the sheer sense of size will be accurately conveyed. That said I hope Frontier will have a quick route out for the larger ship in order not to do the whole spaceballs running through the ship thing.

Lack of aerodynamic drag means spaceship turn rates are limited only by maneuvering thruster output and g-tolerances.

Plus, didn't one of the devs say they weren't going to make the flight characteristics perfectly match reality for the sake of "fun"?
